Hi!   I have the same inquiries (almost exactly the same as the previous poster) just a year later.   I was in the US since 2023 and left on June 29th 2025, I had my work permit for the entire time until I moved to Spain. I stoped working at the end of may 2025 with my employer and then moved countries. I see you asked something regarding taking any steps to inform US Immigration that I left the country and I don't believe I did? would that be an issue?   How would I have to file for part-year resident alien? I have both W-2 and 1099-NEC.

I am IHSS live-in provider. Hence wages box 1 and box 2 are zero, though boxes 3, 4, 5 and 6 have values. I uploaded the W2 from my computer.  1. Please confirm if these steps are still correct that were suggested last year: Enter value from Box 3 to Box 1 which is 0 in the W-2. Should I still do that or should I enter 0? 2. Box 12a in W-2 has value but is empty in the uploaded values by Turbotax. Should I follow previous suggestion below? - [ ] Leave Box 12a blank in Turbo Tax - [ ] Go to “ Wages & Income → W-2 → Uncommon Situations” - [ ] Select: “Nontaxable Medicaid waiver payments / Difficulty of Care payments” - [ ] Then answer: “ALL of Box 1 is Difficulty of Care income” - [ ] Since Box 1 = 0, this confirms no taxable wages 3. Box 15 in in W-2 has CA but is empty in the uploaded values by Turbotax. Should I follow previous suggestion below? - [ ] Leave Box 15 blank as “the state boxes must either all be filled in or all be left blank. Without the ID, all blank is the correct” 4. Box 14 has 2 entries : QUALOT with value in Amount, but no category. Turbo Tax is prompting me to enter category , - [ ] Should I choose ““Other (not classified)” ? or something else?
I filed 2024 w-2 when I supposed to been filing 2023

Not everyone is presented the opportunity to get a Refund Advance.  To see if you are eligible for the Refund Advance you have to decline the two "5 day early refund options" when those are presented by clicking NO THANKS there. If you've passed that screen, you would have to go back to the Refund options page, which may show all the options now.  If you go back to refund options and all the options are not shown, see if you can scroll down to small text "Other options."     See this more detailed answer by TurboTax Expert  @CatinaT1  in this other thread, which also lists eligibility requirements: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/is-clicking-the-refund-advance-option-working-for-anyone/00/3739322

I'm a full time resident of UT and sold my non-rental vacation home in NC. that i've owned for many years.  I had a capital gain on the sale, but on my schedule D , I have a "net" capital gain of "0" because of a Long Term Capital Loss Carryover.  The rest of my income is subject to tax in UT.  If I plug into TurboTax the'0" under capital gain for NC, it assigned all the taxes owed to UTAH.  If I plug in the Part of the Capital Gain Before the LongTerm loss offset into the NC return, it assigns Taxes owed to NC, the deducts them from what I owe in UT?  Not sure which one is correct?   I also question, if I could really deduct the Taxes paid to NC on my UT return since what generated the taxes was Zero'd out on my Schedule D?  Any help would be appreciated

@RH55 wrote: I want my tax software to give me the tools necessary to maximize the tax benefit I get for year-end Traditional IRA to Roth IRA conversions.  We have paid them for this!!!    Afaik, you pay for the software to file taxes.  The IRS doesn't even start accepting taxes until late January.  Can you provide a link to where Intuit says TurboTax is designed to be able to compute your entire tax profile for the year well before the end of the year?  I may have missed it.   Fwiw, I simply create a new return in TT2024, put all the data in, and make a few simple adjustments for standard deduction and brackets.  I've been projecting my year-end Roth conversion to fill my top bracket since distribution estimates were available from fund companies over Thanksgiving weekend.   I've been doing this for years - I don't recall the software ever being functionally complete well before year-end.   Additional point - you're never going to find 1099 on the forms availability list as a 1099 is not something you file with your taxes.  A 1099 will never be "ready to e-file".   The thing the bothers me, and has been going on for years, it listing a date and then just updating the date when the date passes.  Or just changing it to "Ready soon". It seriously erodes credibility when the company consistently and regularly misses date commitments seemingly without a care in the world.
How do I get past answers to review that do not apply to us since 2016?
