The IRS uses your prior year AGI to combat fraud. Make sure you take into account the information below.   You can find your 2024 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by: Looking at line 11 on page 1 of your 2024 Form 1040 Requesting a transcript of your 2024 tax return from the IRS. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript Please click on this TurboTax article for more information.    Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number.  If you:  Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0. Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A). Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less. Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2024 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter  0  for one of you).   Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.    This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

I have received a 1099R that contains a portion of which is a QCD.  The sender has indicated that the taxable amount is not determined. Regardless of my entry to to boxes 1 and 2a, it does not change the taxes that are being calculated in Turbo Tax; I have even dropped it down to 25%. The sender has indicated that the use of the code "Y" was optional for 2025. The sender also sent the form with a 7 in the Box 7. If I change box 7 to a "Y" or add a second code and put a "Y" in that 2nd box, Turbotax calculates an extremely large amount that I am sure is incorrect. Is the programming working correctly?
State return keeps getting rejected...keeps giving me a code and it says correct agi from 2024 I went back and the agi I put for 2025 returns is the correct amount from 2024 agi amount. What to do?
If there is no state income taxes withheld in box 17 of the W-2, then leave boxes 15, 16 and 17 blank (empty) on the TurboTax W-2.

I did call the support number. It took about 45 minutes to get through. They did estimate the wait time up front, so I expected the wait. They were able to confirm that I did not actually consume an addition license when I went through the re-activation process. So, the good news is I should not run out of licenses if I am forced to go through this again.   They also stated that they cannot "reset" the number of licenses I have. However, if I did get locked out they would issue me a new code. In other words, they would make it right.

Turbo Tax Desktop version.  Trying to download 1099s from Fidelity website. All forms are available on Fidelity. I can connect and I get a screen that shows download was successful and tell me I can return to Turbo Tax. When I do so and click on Continue, it tries to download again. I have tried several times. I cleared cookies and cache and powered off my PC. Still won't work. Any thoughts?

Please can you help clarify the Turbo Tax wording as it's confusing. There is a statement 'Box 6: Is the recipient of the distribution the designated beneficiary' and underneath this it says 'Recipient is not the designated beneficiary'. There then appear two options 'Yes' or 'No' - however you could interpret this in 2 ways (a)  - Yes, Recipient is not the designated beneficiary - or (b) No, Recipient is not the designated beneficiary - Please advise which is the correct understanding (a) or (b)? - Thank you

Not everyone qualifies for a Refund Anticipation Loan.  First, if you selected the option to get your refund five days early you can't also get a refund advance.  Then there are all of these requirements:   You’re 18 or older. Your expected federal refund amount is $500 or more. You’re not a resident of North Carolina, Connecticut or Illinois. You’re e-filing your federal tax return with TurboTax. Your physical address is listed on your tax return. Your address must be located in one of the eligible states and can’t be a PO box or prison address. You’re not filing one of these tax forms: 1310, 4852, 4684, 4868, 1040SS, 1040PR, 1040X, 8888 or 8862. You aren’t filing on behalf of a deceased taxpayer. You must report income on a Form W-2, 1099-R, or Sched C. You must open or have an existing Credit Karma Money checking account. In addition there is a limit to how much money Credit Karma can loan out at any one time so you may have requested a loan when that amount was maxed out.
Except it IS listed there. So there is a bug, since it should be in the table and just tell you that the forms are not available for importing yet.
The IRS must have records that you do. Check your Healthcare.gov account to see if you have a 1095-A for 2025.

I surrendered a life insurance policy that I had through my employer, premiums paid with after-tax money. The surrender value is less than the premiums paid. In Turbotax, if I enter the PA distribution category as life insurance, Turbotax calculates the distribution as being taxable. Since the proceeds are less than the premiums paid, shouldn't it be nontaxable? Box 2a of the 1099R is blank, so I assumed it was not taxable at the federal or state level. Is PA different?
