You are forcing your users to update Windows version 10 to Windows 11. In order for me to do that I will need to update my machine, which is working perfectly well. Sooooo, if I want to continue using your product, I have to shell out lots of money and time. I take this as a very faintly disguised extortion on Microsoft part!! Outside of that I have used Windows 11 and find it to be a useless, overly bloated piece of crap. To say noting of the articles I have read about it. Does more harm then good. NO THANK YOU I will pass. The only option you have given me is to do it on-line, something that I am NOT comfortable doing. I assume you have written security code into that website, perhaps you can write security code into the Desktop version. Or just let your users own web security take care of it.

You don't need to report the land until you actually sell it. Then you can enter it in the capital gains/losses (Schedule 3) section of your return.
They should extend TT 2025 for 1 more tax season. Im sure a lot of people are getting the updates for 1 year.

Taxes is really a simple math problem.  It's the rules that make it complicated, but the math is simple.  If you have $110 withholding ($5,720 per year) and you get a refund of $247, that means your actual tax was $5,473.     If you wanted a larger refund, you would have more taken out each week, but that would mean you have less to spend each week.   It would be like setting up a forced savings account, where you pay extra to the IRS, so they can send it back to you as a lump sum.  But the IRS doesn't pay interest.  Better to save on your own, unless you completely lack the discipline.   Or, you can increase your refund by reducing the tax you owe, such as by making tax-deductible contributions to an IRA, or pre-tax contributions to a workplace 401k, or donations to charity.  But again, you would have less money to spend on other items of daily living.

probably they'll lose a small %.  w11 is only required for desktop versions. don't know the exact %s but probably 80% use online so they don't have to upgrade for now. some of the desktop users will probably switch to online.  That means Intuit could make up the lost revenue from those that abandon its desktop tax product.  Consider a taxpayer with stock sales.  for 2024, the cheapest desktop version is $80 (federal and state); online $139 state $64 additional.  Also, desktop was good for 5 free e-files. online - one return per account.  It's really about ITS bottom line.

Thanks @xmasbaby0. I guess the message in the software is a little misleading then, because it makes it seem like you can e-file Colorado amendments. Do you know if I'd print and send the same amendment form that I'm sending to the Federal IRS? I'm hoping that's the case because I don't see an option to print anything different.

Working on my 2024 Cedar Fair K-1 and TT is asking for additional information on the 199A income. Am I correct in entering my 20Z value that since it's the 199A PTP Income (it is also the same number of K-1 box number 1). Also, when it asks for Cedar Fair other deductions, am I correct in just entering the same info from K-1 box 13 (it is the only deduction I have listed in that box) since I don't see anything else listed on the supplemental information regarding 199A deductions?  I logged back into the Cedar Fair/Six Flags website to make sure I had all the tax forms I needed and didn't see anything saying STATEMENT A so I am assuming I'm putting the correct information in. Please advise and thank you.
If you answered incorrectly about your child's SS card, then go to MY INFO, click her name, and go back through the screens to change how you answered that question.

I used to never fill out the registration screen.  But I finally got tired of it so I filled it out.  I never get any advertisements or anything.  I assume it's so they can notify me if there is a problem with the program.      I opened an older program to see the registration screen. At the top it says to keep you up to date with tax law changes.   At the bottom it says we will not rent, sell or share your personal information with anyone outside of Intuit for their marketing use.  And there is a link if you do not want to receive marketing materials.

Your question is very unclear.   If you claimed a refund (for any reason) and it has not been paid yet, check the IRS web site.  There are many reasons a tax refund may be delayed, and no one on this board can help you with that, it's between you and the IRS. https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund   If you received your refund but it is less than expected, first remember that your federal and state refunds are paid separately by separate governments.  You might get one while the other is delayed.   If you received your IRS refund but it was reduced, you will get a letter of explanation, usually 3-4 weeks after the refund is paid.  Wait for the letter to see what they say.   If you received a reduced refund and you got your letter, what does it say exactly?  There are several reasons a dependent claim might be rejected, we need to know the reasons before we can give any advice.

TurboTax is not offering refund advances at this time. They usually offer refund advances in late January and February, but we do not yet know what will be offered in the upcoming filing season for 2025 tax returns.   You can't get a refund advance until you know that you are getting a refund, and how much it is. You have to first complete your tax return to see your refund. You cannot do that until you have your W-2 and the 2025 software is available.

I just got an email that because of Microsoft stopping support of Windows 10  in October Turbo Tax will only be able to be used with Windows 11 computers.  This is incredibly stupid. I've used Turbo Tax for over 20 years, but no more.  Because of this our relationship of many years has ended. I will be searching for other Tax software platforms that actually care about their long term customers financial well being. Bye!
