@cjmckinney77    Ahhh, those are new codes the IRS is attempting to implement, that TTX doesn't yet, and may not support this year. One CHAMP indicated they've been delayed until the 2026 tax w-2 next year...but I'm a bit uncertain at this point.  And the IRS has apparently did say they are delaying those two codes for 2025 W-2 forms....so not sure what you do...ignore those two box 12 entries, but DO report those $$ using the check boxes on the page following the main W-2 form  (might work, might not)??   TP for total tips, and TT for overtime

You are seeing this because the amount of Medicare taxes withheld in box 6 is Not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5.  Remove any cents for the Medicare wages and see if the upgrade message goes away. OR - Delete the w-2 and re-enter.  Make sure the amount in box 6 is 1.45% or less of the amount in box 5.

My husband has claimed this credit once before and has been at least half time. I just started my bachelor's and applied my 1098-T, but it says I'm not eligible..? We've been married for 10 years filing jointly. This is my 1st year of bachelor's, but 3rd year overall as a full time student (earned a separate AS degree 10 yrs ago). My husband's credit goes thought but not mine? Does he need to claim my expenses? I bought a very expensive computer since it's all online along with various art supplies listed on my syllabi.
I need to find my tax form from 2024

Asked Mass DOR by secure message about it.  Their response was: **** Dear Taxpayer, Thank you for your recent inquiry. Distributions from a Roth IRA account made to you are excluded from federal gross income. A distribution is excludable if the IRA is held for 5 years and it meets 1 of the following conditions: You were at least 59 and a half years old when it was distributed You are disabled The distribution is made to a beneficiary or your estate on or after your date of death The distribution is paying for a qualified first time homebuyer expense (up to $10,000) (If a distribution is made before the 5-year holding period expires, or doesn't meet 1 of the 4 above conditions, the distribution is not excluded from Massachusetts gross income. Any earnings on the contributions are included in federal and Massachusetts gross income instead.) Thank you for visiting our website. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue

@saltypaws1    When importing, I got a pop-up indicating that some strangely-numbered Turbotax thing wanted to connect to a device on my network....I had to allow before the $$ really transferred.  (of course if you are nervous about doing that, skip the import and type yours in manually...it's really easy)   The first time I tried, I just hit the X (close) in the upper rt corner of the pop-up and then nothing xfered.   Even so, I had to edit the 1099-INT, and remove all the $0.00 values it put in a bunch of boxes.  Those $0.00 boxes should be left empty...including the state withholding one  (unless you actually had state taxes withheld..unlikely)  _________________________ But, in a big improvement over prior years, this year it transferred just the final total 1099-INT from my account.  In prior years, it created two, one each for a MMkt, and one CD....But then skipped a couple other CDs I had.   Really, only the total 1099-INT was needed...not separate ones for each CD.

Q. Would it be smart to just claim him as a dependent? A. Yes. At a minimum, there is a $500 "other dependent credit" for you.  Unless your income is too high to qualify, there should also be an (up to) $3200 education credit (maybe even more of he has expenses for books and a computer).  He is not eligible for that credit on his own return. Effectively, only parents can claim that credit.    With the tax law change, effective 2018, most students will get the same refund whether they claim themselves or not. The personal exemption has been eliminated and the standard deduction increased.
