To add or change anything on filed tax return you will need to amend the return.   You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return. If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again. If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk
I've already filed but didn't need the deluxe.

As of January 25, 2026 TurboTax 2025 Home and Business updated version is 025.000.0230 The section for entering and evaluating Form 1099-R IRA early withdrawals does not facilitate questions / selections for qualified distributions (in my case, for qualified education expenses).  I confirmed that the 1099-R form entry includes: Box 2b: Taxable amount not determined box is checked  Box 7: Distribution Code is set to 1  I can clearly see in the Forms view under Schedule 2, Part II, Line 8 that the 10% penalty is being applied.   When is this section going to be updated with a SW bug fix ?

When I go to enter my kids child care expenses, it asks if my husband was the one I paid for care for. When i say no, it tells me i am done with that section and cannot add my three kids care expenses. Does anyone know why?

Let's first define HSA employer contributions: "Employer" contributions on your W-2 show the sum of employer contribution PLUS the amount you contributed through payroll deduction. So, in the eyes of the IRS the entire amount is "employer contribution" and accounted for on the W-2, even though part of it, in fact, was your personal contribution. This amount is part of your W-2 entry.    Here is how you deduct contributions which you made in addition to the amount shown on the W-2: Since you reached the age to be eligible for Medicare read the comments below the pathway carefully:   Select: Deductions & Credits > Medical Select: HSA Contributions Enter:  Your personal contributions for 2025. Select: Covered by HDHP (fundamental requirement for HSA) Select:  "Covered by Medicare", if you are enrolled in Medicare. Just being eligible for Medicare does not mean that you are enrolled.   Beginning with the first month you are enrolled in Medicare you may not contribute to the HSA any longer. There's one exception: if you became Medicare-enrolled on December 1, you may claim the HSA credit for the entire year.    If you choose to apply for retroactive Medicare coverage, you may not include HSA contributions during Medicare-covered months.    You may withdraw excess HSA contributions before the tax due date including extensions.  IRS Publication 969 provides additional details.
