Dear @MarilynG1,   My question concerns TurboTax miscalculating the FTC when claiming the FEIE with FEI sourced to 2 countries. It is clear that on your test return you are not claiming the FEIE, because a taxpayer cannot claim both the FTC and FEIE unless her FEI exceeds the maximum FEIE, which for 2025 is $130,000.

On the Social Security Benefits Worksheet, line 18 also states "If prior year lump-sum benefits were received, go to line 19, otherwise, skip line 19 and enter the amount from line 18 on line 20."  If line 19 is blank, then that means there were no lump sum benefits received, so the amount on line 20 should equal the amount on line 18.   In the first part of your question, you mentioned Smart Worksheets, however there are multiple Smart Worksheets in the TurboTax program, so I can't be certain which worksheet your post relates to.  If you could repost and give some information about the particular Smart Worksheet.  It is possible to have negative amounts such as in a capital loss that can be deducted.
No, insurance on a personal residence is not deducible.  Insurance would only be considered an expense if the property was a rental.

This forum has no access to your return. You are the only one to report this issue this tax season. You should review the 1099-Divs. You can get this deduction if you invested in a Publicly Traded Partnership that earned REIT dividends If you can't figure it out, contact support. That can be allowed to see your return
Your W-2 lists the state taxes paid to that state.  You don't always get all the state tax paid refunded.

When I enter a ROTH contribution, for which I should owe taxes, my total tax due decreases. If anything, it should increase.  Is the software working correctly or am I potentially doing something wrong?  It seems to be interpreting that contribution as a deductible contribution or something else is happening.
Are 2025 1099R and 1040 forms available?

for your situation if you don't want to download Turbo s/w and file by mail, look into FreeTaxUSA for prior year filing - can't vouch for them directly but they have all these back years available for prep online and 2024/3 may still be able to e-file if you have an IP PIN; 2022 will certainly need to be mailed.
When manually entering my 1099-R, the "Box 15 - State" pull-down menu does not include Texas. To clear the field from a state I previously lived in, I deleted the form and re-entered it.

In order to be able to answer your post correctly, I need to know if this contribution was made by you directly to the HSA administrator in January 2026, or if this contribution was made by your employer but not reported on your W-2.   In the former case, please do the following: re-enter the HSA interview,  proceed to the screen titled "Let's enter [name]'s HSA contributions".  Any contributions that you made directly to the HSA administrator whether in 2025 or Jan 2026 need to be added on the second line "personal" contributions.  Please understand that the IRS considers any contributions made by payroll deductions to be "employer", not "personal" contributions, even if you consider them to be personal.   In the latter case, if the employer did not include this January 2026 amount in box 12, code W on your W-2, then do the following: enter the HSA interview On the screen titled "Do any of these situations apply to [name]?", check "[name] had other company contributions that weren't reported to their W-2 or apply to a previous year. Hit Continue The next screen will have three lines. You will enter the missing dollar amount on the third line - "Contributions not reported in Box 12 of your W-2" The amount will be used in the calculation for excess contributions (if any) and will appear on your 8889.

Under Additional taxes and repayments (in Miscellaneous Tax Forms), in Excess ABLE account contribution is the statement "If more than $18,000 was contributed to an ABLE account this year, enter the amount of the excess contribution..."    The correct maximum ABLE account contribution limit in 2025 was $19,000 - not $18,000.  Please fix this.
Thanks, @jenw52182. That is not a valid token number; it should be more digits than that. Can you please try again following the steps listed above? Thank you!

I\The site says the form is ready.  My TurboTax when I check for updates says it is up to date. However, the residential energy credit still says available soon.  What is going on?  I have used TurboTax for roughly 25 years and have never seen things the way they have been this year.
