I filed my tax return and input my clean energy improvement information. On my return it shows the amount listed under "Residential clean energy credit from Form 5695, line 15," but there doesn't seem to be an actual form 5695 filed with my return. Am I supposed to file that form separately? Do I need to amend my return in order to do that?

Apparently a lot has changed on the website in 2026 and I can't access my 2024 return anymore. I am required to download the desktop app, which I don't have and I don't want to pay extra for. I called the customer support and they confirmed with my MAX service, a tax expert will be handling my amended return but the help chat window doesn't connect me to an expert without me starting my amendment myself first. I am stuck and would appreciate any help.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.

Follow these steps if you have tips listed in box 1 and 14, but not in box 7. These steps are from our help article, How do I enter tips in TurboTax online? You can view the article for more information on entering tips.      You have tip amounts in Box 14 Some employers may report qualified tips in Box 14 (Other) instead of Box 7. Enter your W-2, including exactly what appears in Box 14. After entering your W-2, look for the Review and complete your box 14 info screen. For the line with tips, select Reported tips (not railroad tips) from the list. TurboTax will ask you a few questions about your tips, and automatically calculate the deduction if you qualify.

When our first child came into the world in 2020, my wife was still not a permanent resident of Canada. I was serving my country as a Canadian citizen and a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, doing everything I could to support our growing family. Despite finally receiving her permanent residency after giving birth, the financial burden from that time has never fully lifted. To this day, we continue making monthly payments of $100 to the hospital in Quebec. As of December 31, 2025, we still carry a remaining balance of $12,843.90. What should have been a joyful beginning for our family has instead followed us for years, becoming a quiet but constant weight on our shoulders. Can we claim any of these?

Is the Tax Due too high?  Better check if you have a penalty on 1040 line 38.   Before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return. You have to pay any fees first before you can see all the forms, etc. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160   If you get a penalty on 1040 line 38, you might be able to eliminate it or at least reduce it. You can go to Federal Taxes tab or Personal tab, under Other Tax Situations and select Start by the Underpayment Penalties. You will answer a series of questions that may reduce or eliminate the penalty. Or you can elect to have the IRS figure the penalty for you. It's form 2210. When you enter a 1099R for a pension, you should say it was ALL an RMD.    Did you import the 1099R?  You can manually fix the entry and change it to Fidelity.
