If you purchased the vehicle on 9/23/25 and put it in service on the same date, you would be eligible (assuming it meets the other criteria) to claim the credit. Please go back and double check your entries to be sure you did enter 9/23/25 for both dates.   Below is more information on the credit to verify that you otherwise qualify.  If you bought  an EV that is on this list  prior to September 30, 2025 you may qualify for the NEW EV  credit. If eligible, you will get credit for it on  your 2025 taxes filed in 2026. In order to receive credit for the EV on your 2025 return, you would need to have bought  it prior to September 30, 2025 as the credit was terminated after that date.  Things to remember about this credit:  • It is worth UP to $7,500 depending on the vehicle you purchase. The credit varies per vehicle  • It is a nonrefundable credit. This means it will reduce your tax liability by up to $7,500 but will not result in a  negative number or a tax refund of money you did not pay in or have withheld.  • The credit cannot be carried forward  • You can use your income for the year you take delivery or the prior year if your income in the previous year was  below the threshold if it is above the threshold in the current year.   • In order to qualify your AGI must be less than:  ○ $300,000 if Married Filing Joint  ○ $225,000 if Head of Household  ○ $150,000 if single or Married Filing Separate  • Vehicle Qualifications are as follows:  ○ Vans, SUVS, and Pickup Trucks my have an MSRP of no more than $80,000  ○ Other vehicles must have an MSRP of no more than $55,000  The MSRP does not include destination charges, options added by the deal (seal coating, extended   ▪warranty, etc.) taxes, fees, or manufacturer discounts or incentives. Basically, it does not matter if you  strike a good deal on the vehicle if the Manufacturer says it is worth more than the limit, it does not  qualify.  ○ Final Assembly must be in North America  ○ Click here to enter your VIN to see if your vehicle qualifies  This credit is reported on form 8936 (Clean Vehicles Credits) and flows to Schedule 3 Line 6 which then flows to line 19 of your Form 1040.

If you are not seeing Tax Tools. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

I'm sorry if I was not clear.   The software shows:  "Additional property taxes on your main home" and the box to the right of it will not allow me to enter any numbers or anything.  I believe this is a bug.     Certainly I could "edit" the 1098 and change the property tax number but then the entry for the 1098 would not be the same as what the IRS gets from the bank.  I do not want to do that nor do I think that is the right place to do this.     I'm still unable to add the property taxes I paid directly myself.  Please advise.

The amount of the subtraction should be entered as a whole number, not as a negative number.    The instructions in the TurboTax program may seems confusing since it states to enter a "subtraction adjustment" but since you already are designating the adjustment as a subtraction, the number is not entered as a negative. That would result in a double negative which ends up ADDING rather than SUBTRACTING.    Please enter adjustments as whole (positive) numbers.

The IRS officially opened for the general public yesterday. If you are still seeing a "Pending" status, here is the explanation:   On the official opening day (Jan 26), millions of people hit "Submit" at once. The IRS limits how many returns it pulls from the software providers' servers per hour to prevent their systems from crashing. Your return is likely sitting in the "digital waiting room." It will stay Pending until the IRS computer actually "downloads" it and actually accepts or rejects it.

The IRS has just opened on January 26 to accept/reject e-files.   Any returns that have been accepted before today have been accepted in small random "test" batches.  Everyone else has been waiting on the servers in "pending."   Start watching your emails now that the IRS is open.  Many e-files are on the servers so it could still take a day or two.         DID YOU E-FILE?   Did you e-file?   Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted  or rejected your federal e-file.  If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.   Check your e-file status:   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

In order for TurboTax to submit your tax return on your behalf the system is going to have to have access to your information.  They won't be able to send it on to the IRS otherwise.
