I purchased the desktop version of TurboTax Premier in December 2025. Since the initial download, I have not received a single program update. In past years, I could count on almost weekly updates. What is going on??? As an example, the 401(k), IRAs and pension section displays as available soon. When will it be available???

In 2025 I replaced the laptop that I used to do my 2024 TurboTax return. Geek Squad was supposed to save the files and restore them, but it apparently did not happen. It looks like I will have to re-enter all the data again. Is this correct?

thanks. I did a force shut down yesterday. This am ran TT and found that the file was saved to the folder during shutdown. Is funtioning normally now. Why? Probally will never know. Do not think this was a security issue. As this was the first save for the file, perhaps the write function was looking for the file that did not yet exist and did not initalize a create-file.

@perry1975 1) Desktop or Online TTX software? 2) If Desktop, Windows or MAC computer? 3) Make sure you are selecting the Social Security income line in the menu. The SS income should work. It's just the regular pensions, 401k, IRA etc with standard 1099-R forms that won't be updated until after the 6th of Jan (sometime on-or-after). SS income is on a different form..an SSA-1099 SSA-1099 entry Works just fine on my Windows 11 Desktop software, also OK on my test "Online" account.

Check that for yourself. Go to Federal>Wages & Income>Wages and Salaries Form W-2
to check what you entered and make corrections if needed.

It is too late to use TurboTax for 2021; software for 2021 is no longer available. Any refund for a 2021` return has been forfeited now and will not be paid by the IRS; if you owe tax due for 2021 it is still owed with late filing penalties and interest.
TurboTax has software for 2022 onward. Software is no longer available from TurboTax for earlier years, nor would it be supported even if you find it on eBay, etc. Updates are not available. It is also too late to receive a tax refund for a tax year earlier than 2022---those refunds have been forfeited. BUT if you owe tax due you still have to pay with penalties and interest. There might be other software providers that have software for those years, but you will not receive refunds for the returns even if the forms show a refund.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2025 only. Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and 2024 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

@bowlegssw ADDENDUM: Or are you asking about an earlier loan offer? If you are referring to the earlier offer for TurboTax Flex Advance loan, that loan program didn't require Credit Karma, but that program is no longer active. It was set to expire whenever all the available funds were used up or December 31, 2025, whichever was to come first. I believe they halted it in the first half of December. For future reference, if you scroll down on the page linked below, there are some FAQs about that program. https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-loan/ And more info at the following page, but it says there it is no longer available. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/loans/whats-turbotax-flex-advance/L2Xg6In6b_US_en_US

@scrat wrote: But I see there only 2024, 2023 and 2022 years. There's no tax return transcript 2020 The IRS online account typically has tax return transcripts for the current year and up to 3 prior years. Here's how to order an older one: Q7. How do I request a transcript for an older tax year when it's not available online? (updated Oct. 3, 2024) You must submit Form 4506-T, Request for Transcript of Tax Return, to request a transcript for a tax year not available online. If you’re using individual online account, tax return and record of account transcripts are only available for the current tax year and three prior tax years. Generally, tax account transcripts are available for the current year and nine prior tax years unless certain conditions apply. Note: There is a "show all +" expand button below the online tax account transcript type that may provide additional tax years. Tax return and tax account transcripts are limited to the current and prior three tax years when using Get transcript by mail or the automated phone transcript service. Even if you pay it in 2026, you still couldn't claim all of it as a rental expense. You could still only claim the portion of the property taxes that applied to the time it was a rental. But that portion would be deductible as a Schedule E rental expense on your 2026 tax return. The other non-rental portion of your property taxes would still be eligible for listing as an itemized expense as your personal property taxes.
