My daughter attended the University of Washington last year getting her doctorate degree. She received payments qualified tuition expenses as a stipend. They gave her $24,841 her scholarships to grants. Totaled $40,261 she paid rent all year long at $2000 a month. Can I put that at room and board on the question in her tax return?

I am having this problem with the 2025 TurboTax version. It was fine until it updated itself. Is this a known problem?

Getting this before I complete my file. "To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade to TurboTax Do It Yourself Deluxe Why do I need to upgrade? You have Additional Medicare Tax Form 8959." No box is more than 200,000, joint income is significantly less than 250k. I've deleted the form multiple times, but keep getting this at the end when I try to file. Please (please!) help :(

I donate both stock and cash to two charities.  In both cases, I get an error on the Form where the "Charitable Organization Questions" (page 3) #1, 2, and 3 are left blank by TurboTax even though I completed them in the Step-By-Step questionnaire.  If I try to check the boxes (in my case, 1 is Yes, 2 and 3 are No), the boxes turn red and result in an error on the form.  This only happens for charities with donations of both cash and stock.  INTUIT, PLEASE FIX THIS ERROR.

Yes.  For federal you can use one Business program for additional businesses, even if they are different kinds of business or an Estate/Trust.  You get 5 free Federal efiles.  You can print and mail any more.  State is sold separately.    Preparing state tax returns for more than one business?  I haven’t checked the current prices so these might be old.   When they are the same types of businesses (such as two S Corps) and file taxes in the same state, buy one state product $55 and use for all at no extra charge. Business State efile included.   When they are the same types of businesses (such as more than one LLC), but file taxes in different states, buy one product per state for $55.  Business State efile included.   When they are different types of businesses (such as an S Corp and a partnership) and file taxes in the same state, purchase one product for each business type for $55 per each business type. Business State efile included.
