To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954.   Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst     Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

@Sunny47 , Namaste ji. Thank you for the explanation.  I would like to add the following: For US tax purposes ONLY: (a) Recognition of sale  of immovable asset  ( farmland, undeveloped  land, house , condo, rental prop, commercial prop. etc. ) in India  must be done in the calendar year the actual transaction takes place (b) For  gain/loss computation,                     (1) Gain/Loss = Sales Proceeds ( Sales Price Less sales expenses such as transfer tax, commission, sales prep expenses  etc. etc. ) LESS  Adjusted Basis ( Cost of acquisition + Cost of any improvements during holding period LESS accumulated depreciation, whether recognized or not ).                    (2) Conversion to US $ from INR should be done contemporaneously using any published exchange rate ( such  as annual average rate published by the US Treasury etc. ).  Must use the same method for all conversions and generally good record keeping is advised.                    (3)  Tax treatment i.e. ordinary gain vs. capital gain etc. is based on US tax laws. (c)   Foreign Tax Credit                     (1) Indian tax laws are completely ignored i.e. whether the Indian Tax was based on Indexation ( and at 20% tax rate ) or  No-Indexation ( and 12.5% tax rate ) is immaterial for purposes of Foreign Tax Credit.                     (2)   FTC is based on final taxes paid to India and not TDS  ( Taxes Held at Source).                      (3)  Only Income Tax is eligible for FTC   AS you see from the above there is no place for the indexation of basis to affect the US taxation and/.or the FTC. Does this make sense ? Is there more I can do for you ?   Namaste Sunny ji

They will be itemizing their return and need info to prove interest paid. When I claim I received this interest on my return will Turbo tax automatically generate the form they need for their return? If not, where do I get it and can it be filled out electronically?
I filed my taxes with TurboTax and it looks like they adjusted my interest deduction correctly.  I don't see anything wrong.  Do I just reach out to TurboTax somehow and ask them to validate?

The TurboTax release for macOS supports the last (3) OS versions; Why would Intuit require Windows 11? MS still supports Windows 10 through the ESU program, so it should be good. If Intuit still wants to so severely limit its OS support, I see that pushing people more to migrate to competitor's products rather than to Intuit's online versions.

I am not a tax professional. I am trying to get info regarding a relative's taxes. I have her POA, but clearly I need to file one or both of these forms. I believe she has not filed since 2010, but i need to verify this, then get transcripts or W2s and 1099s for any missing years. I may not need 2848, it depends on how bad the situation is. I do need to be able to discuss them with the IRS and get the necessary documents. Her taxes aren't complicated and i can do them in Turbotax once i have the info (yes, i have all those years!) Since faxing and USPS take longer than uploading the forms, I am hoping the "electronic signature" issue enables me to file it online.

@Mike44nc The only federal stimulus checks issued were for tax year 2020 and 2021.   It is too late to get either of those stimulus payments.  There have been NO other federal stimulus checks since 2021.  There are rumors and lots of political huffing and puffing about "tariff" or "stimulus" checks but there are no checks, so you do not need to watch for one.

Desktop download Deluxe can include the software for one state program of your choosing.   If you purchase Deluxe from a retailer, be careful, as retailers can sell Deluxe both with and without the state program.  Read carefully and know what you are buying.   If you use online Deluxe, you pay separate fees for federal and state.
Does the Turbotax Deluxe for 2025 taxes still have one free state download included?  I have used the deluxe version for nmany years and it has always had one free state download included.

OK, perhaps, but I have never used the online version of TurboTax (nor do I ever intend to), so I don't know why Intuit thinks that is a useful / reasonable offset for discontinuing ItsDeductable?
