Annoying! Trying to get a headstart. I already know my income and expenses for my rental unit. As of 12/6/2025 TurboTax won't let me enter ANYTHING for this year. I think it said forms would be available in February. Usually I am finished and have submitted by early February. This is on top of having to buy a new computer with Windows 11 in order to use the desktop version. Bah!

CAN I USE TURBOTAX TO AMEND IF THE RETURN WAS PREPARED SOMEWHERE ELSE?
If you did not use TurboTax to prepare your tax return, it is possible to amend the return using TurboTax but it will really be a pain. It would be better to use the software or service used to file originally. If a paid preparer made a mistake on your tax return, that tax preparer should do the amended return for you at no charge.
In order to use TurboTax to amend your return, you need to purchase the desktop software for the tax year and re-create the return EXACTLY as it appeared when it was filed with the IRS/states. Every line has to be the same. Then you have to "trick" the software into thinking you filed by saying you will mail the return. (but do not mail it) AFTER that, you use the software to prepare a Form 1040X, which has to be printed, signed and mailed to the IRS. It takes the IRS about 4-6 months to process an amended return

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

If you are referring to the TurboTax settlement over the free edition, that was resolved by payment to the members of class action.

Your options are to have your second employer withhold all of your next pay for federal and state taxes and you can have your first employer do the same if needed. Doing that will spread the withholding over 4 quarters. Sending in estimated payments is another option but won’t spread the payments over the 4 quarters.

Are they taking out Social Security and Medicare taxes? If not they might be paying you as a 1099 independent contractor instead of an employee. Better ask the emloyer. If you are an employee that will get a W2 you need to give them a new W4 form to have withholding taken out. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf Either way if you are an employee or 1099 you should probably send in an estimated payment to cover the tax. Or you can have more withheld from your full time job. Although it's already December so you might not be able to take more out of your first job to cover the tax. Here are the blank Estimates and instructions….. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040es.pdf Or you can pay on the IRS website. Be sure to pick 2025 1040ES payment https://www.irs.gov/payments

First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery/ If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. You can also request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Hello! I know where to access previous year returns, but I'm unable to view/print the year I need. Some year's returns are available but others aren't. I can see other documents, but no option to download the PDF. Please see screenshots. It's driving me mad—thanks for the help! Here you can see the "download tax PDF" for 2020 but that option is missing for 2021 (under it).

@Lani6, @Rightfield, Closing the loop on this: After my 2nd request on October 20, 2025, TurboTax finally agreed to formally investigate and fix the issue with printing IRS Form 8582 Page 3. Unfortunately, the software fix will apparently only be applied to TurboTax 2025, not TurboTax 2024 or TurboTax 2023. Thus, with either TurboTax 2024 or TurboTax 2023, if you need to paper file an original or amended return or simply want to print / save all your required forms, you must prepare IRS Form 8582 page 3 manually using the PDF of the blank form on the IRS website. Regarding e-filing, TurboTax stated that IRS Form 8582 page 3 is being included in e-file submissions. However, the only way to objectively verify that page's inclusion seems to be to call the IRS and ask whether the IRS in fact received it. I have not called the IRS to verify because I have yet to e-file a return that includes IRS Form 8582 page 3. A forum moderator reached out to me via email and helped move my 2nd investigation request along internally. I think this was @GabiU, and if so, thank you, @GabiU.

There should be some sort of worksheet in which you can enter the proceeds and your basis. Look for something like an asset worksheet or capital asset worksheet in Forms Mode.

Hello, I currently have a second job which is part-time and noticed that no federal or California state withholds taxes have not been taking from my paycheck. I normally work 8 max 20 hours a month. I'm worried that I will owe taxes. My first job is full time and I make decent money and taxes are being withheld from both state and federal. Including that I am filing single.
