Tax withholding is credited on the tax return of the year of the From 1099-R, so this Form 1099-R needs to entered into both 2024 TurboTax (to include in your AGI the amount from box 2a) and 2025 TurboTax (to credit you with the tax withholding).  When asked by TurboTax, you must indicate that it is a 2025 From 1099-R.
TurboTax does not receive any kind of tax refund, federal or state.   The state refund is sent directly to you based on how you chose to receive the state tax refund

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.   If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Trust is located/established in MD as is the beneficiary, but the trustee is located in PA. TurboTax defaults to PA state taxes required, but that is not necessary here. I downloaded the MD taxes but it keeps telling me I am filing as a nonresident in MD; taking me down the path of filing nonresident income forms. How do I get around this? I just want to file as a MD "resident" for the trust.
We are having same issues on an amended return. The side bar shows none of those menus at anytime. Giving us no opportunity to adjust the AGI
Turbotax imported all 1099s for 2025 from e*trade account and showed 111 errors, starting with the Capital Asset Sales Entry Worksheet. How to fix them?

and if lines 6-12 are empty you probably have asterisks next to the amounts which indicates a separate worksheet is being used for the tax calculation which should show the conversion and MV amounts it is using... not sure what triggers that worksheet instead of using 8606 but you should be able to see it in the PDF with all forms and worksheets.

@EA619  wrote: When using the where’s my refund tool…it says my return has been received but it’s been on the first bar meter for over two weeks now…does anybody know how soon it moves to the next meter that says return processed? Most returns finish processing within 21 days, but a lot do not.   Some can take considerably longer if the IRS requires extra processing.    If it goes longer than 21 days, you can phone the IRS to see if they can tell you anything about the delay.   Here's the IRS phone number, but it's too soon to call. IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

@EA619 wrote: Hey bro did you end up getting your tax refund in yet? You're posting in an old thread from last year.   Are you wondering where your tax refund is?   First, if you efiled, be sure your efiled return was accepted.   If using Online TurboTax, you can check at the Tax Home page.   If that showed your return was accepted, you can track your Federal refund at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool: https://www.irs.gov/refunds If you filed a paper return by mail, it can take up to 4 weeks just to show up in that tool.   The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund.   When you scroll down further there, you will see a link for your state.   FAQ:  How do I track my state refund? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
Did you figure this out?  I too am getting a 10% penalty on my military retirement pay after many years of not having a problem.

The asterisk means that the taxable amount is being calculated on the Taxable IRA Distribution Worksheet, which is included as part of your return if you choose to print 'all government and TurboTax worksheets' or you can view it in Forms if you are using a desktop version of TurboTax.  The worksheet is based on the IRS worksheet linked here.   Since a deductible contribution of $7000 was made in 2024 and a non-deductible contribution was made in 2025, at least a portion of the amount converted to the Roth IRA will be taxable.  Without taking any earnings into account, if $7000 was converted to the Roth IRA, then $3500 will be taxable.     Every distribution from a Traditional IRA is a mixture of pre-tax and after-tax money.  Each distribution takes into account all Traditional IRAs that you may have when determining whether the distribution is taxable.  The taxable amount is proportional to the part of the account that is pre-tax money (deductible contributions and earnings).     So even if you only converted the $7000 that was a non-deductible contribution, the deductible contribution from 2024 is taken into account as well (along with any earnings in the account) and makes part of the conversion taxable.   @dipanjan108

@ user17738594068  This is mainly a user community forum--not a direct route to TurboTax Customer Support.    You said you mailed the 2024 return.   TurboTax doesn't mail it for you, so I presume you physically did.   You didn't mention if you have talked to the IRS to see if they show a 2024 return has been filed.  Or if you have an online IRS account, you can look in there and see what your 2024 return transcript shows.   RS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday   I can't tell for sure from your original posting, but if you used Online TurboTax for 2024, are you also having trouble finding your 2024 online return in your TurboTax account?   If so, we can tell you how you should be able to find a copy of it.
