Turbo tax Deluxe- Quebec version (English). The tax return is for a couple (husband and wife), I select print/file, then check mark the husband's name and select to print the federal and provincial income tax return.  The returns print successfully for the correct person.  I remain on the same page and check mark the wife's name and select to print the federal and provincial return.  The federal and provincial return of the husband print a second time instead of printing the wife's return.  The workaround is to exit the page, return to forms, then select print/file a second time and check mark the wife's name to print the returns.  This was also an issue with the 2023 income tax year.  The other issue is that if you select to print only the federal return, both the federal and provincial returns print.   Hope this is resolved for 2025 because I wasted a lot of paper!
Thank you! This was my issue as well.

Yes, that's the most recent wording.   The issue is when you put the dates in for the time you were in a declared combat zone, TurboTax will not allow you to submit without correcting it to be a full year to meet the "abode" definition (without consideration for supporting in a declared combat zone).  Obviously, if you set the date to a full year, it sets all of your income as foreign earned income, not just the amount that you say is foreign earned income.   You are given an option to say that you have a waiver, and you can add a note that you were in a combat zone.  However that still doesn't allow you to electronically file because it wants you to fix the dates.  Using the physical test pretty much results in the same issue.   The only option is to then file it by mail.  Which, if I'm doing that, I might as well pay a CPA to make sure I'm not spending months to do my taxes.  I spend way too much time overseas to deal with that.
If you have an IRA penalty, TurboTax may ask for that value. Be on the lookout for wrongly applied penalties due to 2024 TurboTax issues.   @burner718

Do you need to file 2023?  Sorry it's too, late to start a 2023 or prior online return or use the mobile app, either on Turbo Tax or the IRS. And too late to efile 2023. To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on.   If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand.  Here are some basic forms..... Here is the 2023 1040 return https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040--2023.pdf or if you want bigger type use 1040SR for Seniors, https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s--2023.pdf 2023 1040 Instructions https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040gi--2023.pdf 2023 EIC and Tax Tables https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt--2023.pdf Schedules 1-3 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s1--2023.pdf https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s2--2023.pdf https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s3--2023.pdf Don’t forget your state. And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing. Then when you file for 2024 you need to enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late.
Sorry for your loss. we eventually hired an accountant to deal with the issue of my dad's post-death and post-tax filing income.   Unfortunately,  I don't recall the specifics.   good luck

I entered all information for 2025 joint tax return, completed all steps and filed electronically on 3/22.  It was accepted and then nothing happened.  Called IRS on 4/11 and learned it required some attention and I should have received a letter.  Phone agent generated new letter to be mailed on 4/12.  It was sent 4/17 and required me to log into IRS and verify the  petition because it had not been done.  I did this and it indicates wait of up to 9 months for processing. None of this was my fault.  I completed all steps and the program said it was ready to file.  It was filed. I indicated that I would pay for early refund receipt, etc.   I'm not getting the services and I will file a protest for such charges.

Line 21 is just the Total for schedule 2.  What actual line on sch  2  does it show up on?  Is it the exact same amount as your W2 DD?  Also it sounds like it imported wrong.  That's common.  Delete the W2 and enter it again MANUALLY.  That usually fixes it.   I bet it got imported as a single D and not DD so it thinks you made an excess 401K contribution.

Figuring out estimated taxes a year ahead of time doesn't do me much good. I might have no capital gains for the year if I don't sell securities or I might have a few hundred thousand, but I have no idea at the beginning of the year what I might sell. I might have an idea of what dividends I might get throughout the year, and could keep track of charitable contributions and other income, but I really need a tool to do this throughout the year as things happen.   In addition to knowing what my quarterly payments should be based on actual income (I'd still have an issue if I have a subsequent quarter where I sell securities at a huge loss) there are other things I'd want to figure out such as how much I could use from an IRA to make a Roth conversion without increasing my income to the point that my tax bracket goes up and my Medicare premiums go up.   I could wait until the end of the year, hope that Turbotax comes out with enough time for me to cram the numbers in to estimate, but is there a better way? I'd need to do this before making end of year decisions, so January would be too late.

Yes, I filed, received notification that my returns had been accepted, then received a notice from the IRS that information I had entered regarding my health exchange payments was incorrect. What I had entered did NOT match what ended up on my return. So I had to submit an amended form. Now I just receive another notice from the IRS stating that the bank account info I had entered for payment was incorrect. I'm finding it highly unlikely that I entered both of these pieces of information incorrectly. There is something wrong with their software.

Hello, I see that this question was asked before and marked as solved but the expert instructions to follow are different from what I am seeing (Turbotax premier).   I am a high income earner whose income is above the Roth limit. I put $8000 (50+ in age) into a Traditional IRA and moved it into a Roth IRA the following day. Have been doing this the last few years but never had this problem before.   These are the screens I see Is this the repayment of a retirement distribution? No Tell us how much you contributed $8000 Tell us how much you transferred $8000 Your IRA explanation statement - entered details with dates Any excess IRA contributions before 2024? No Any nondeductible contributions to IRA? Yes - made and tracked non-deductible contributions to IRA IRA Basis - Amount as of Dec 31, 2023 Your income is too high to contribute (warning - seen it in prior years) You currently have a penalty - $480 (new message not seen in prior years)   Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Thank you for your reply.   It is my self-directed IRA LLC that is listed for the Roth portion of my investment, and my IRA custodian for the traditional IRA portion of my investment.  I invested three different amounts in this private placement at different times, so I have separate membership ID's and I get three separate K-1's each year and the distributions come in three separate deposits to the bank account for the IRA LLC's bank account or IRA custodian account.

Divorced is not a filing status for a tax return.  You are asked if you are divorced in order to help navigate you to the correct filing status of Single or possibly Head of Household ---if you are the custodial parent of the children you might be able to file as Head of Household.   Am I Head of Household?   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-filing-status/qualify-head-household-2021/L0NxUtVc2_US_en_US?uid=m5x19jkx What is a "qualifying person" for Head of Household?   If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.   If you do not have a qualified dependent for HOH  filing status you will file as Single for 2024.    It is best to start a new account with a new user ID.   It is too difficult to delete the embedded information from a spouse if you use the same account that was used for past joint returns. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-start-another-return-in-turbotax-online/00/25596

Option 2 (zeroes) still sounds sketchy to me, but on further thought, decided to amend the TT 1099-R record for the FI where we actually paid the missing RMD info to include the original figures *plus* the additional payments (RMD, FIT, SIT) we made for the 'missing' 1099-R. We're also prepped with a 5329 and its supplement, in case questions are raised. Will see how it goes, but so far so good.   Thanks for the suggestion.  This approach would not have occurred to me on my own,
