You can verify the tax payment or federal refund method you chose on the Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2024 Federal Tax Return page, next to Balance Due/Refund. If the payment was set up, sometimes it takes a few days for the payments to go through.     To verify your payment, follow these instructions:   Sign in to TurboTax and open your return. On the Tax Home screen, scroll to Your tax returns & documents and select Add a State (don't worry, you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right area) to access your tax forms and worksheets. In the menu, select Tax Tools, then Print Center. On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year’s return. On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2024 Federal return and Include government and TurboTax worksheets, then select View or print forms. The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2024 Federal Tax Return, next to Balance Due/Refund. How do I review the tax payment or federal refund method I chose after filing with TurboTax Online?
i STARTED THE TAXES OVER AND I STILL CANNOT SKIP THE RSCCREDIT. IS THIS HOW TURBO TAX GETS PEOPLE TO PAY A FEE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS

That is not a basis difference.  A basis difference is a difference in the value of the stocks or other items that you might have sold.  This is just a difference in the capital loss carryforward to next year.  TurboTax should track it for you both on the federal and the state.   @lkj2
It is form 2210. How to correct?

In order to assist you properly, can you tell us which version of TurboTax you are using; Online or Desktop?   We made some tests in TurboTax Desktop and it should work properly. As you can see on the following screenshot, when the information for both dependents is entered in Dependent section, we can see it on the Tuition transfer worksheet and then on line 32400 of the T1. Same for TurboTax Online, it should work. You have to make sure in Additional Dependent information, you clicked yes to the question about student // you have to make sure you applied credit for each dependent.   We suggest you to review your entries.   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

the estimate tax penalty on line 38 is just that an estimate. (don't know if there was a bug in Turbotax) Sometimes the info the IRS has like estimated tax payment dates will differ from what the taxpayer has entered then line 38 is can be too high or too low.   you do have options 1) pay it and do nothing else. the following options would be to see if you can lower the penalty 2) use the annualized income installment method  3) if you had withholding use actual withholding for 1/1-4/15, 4/16 -6/15 and 6/16-9/15 and 9/16-12/31 4) both 2 and 3.     I'm not sure how you can check the IRS calculation vs the one Turbotax did. however, since you are using desktop you can see Turbotax calculations by using the search box for form 2210. Forms>open form>2210. then double click on the form to open it.

When you start your Oregon non-resident return (which you should do BEFORE you do your resident return for your home state) you will be prompted to look at all of your income and losses and say which ones are Oregon related and which are not.  You will have an opportunity towards the end to enter any income for Oregon that is not on the federal return.  That is where you can enter the carryforward losses.     Keep in mind that if you did the return with TurboTax last year that the losses should already be on there so it may not be necessary to enter them.  Make sure to double check.   @plawlor78
You should contact the IRS so that they can issue you a refund.  Their number is 1-800-829-1040.
Can you tell us more? What are you trying to do?

A few days ago, I received a letter from the IRS saying I needed to add a Schedule C to my tax return in addition to my Foreign Earned Income (FEI). I amended this on TurboTax, but it seems that TurboTax instead doubled my income on the Foreign Earned Income (putting it twice) and did not put a Schedule C, and the amendment has already been e-filed and accepted by the IRS.     TurboTax has an option to do a second amendment online, but I am not sure if I should wait for the current amendment to be fully processed and to wait for a letter from the IRS again about it.     So my question is this: Is it appropriate to e-file a second amendment with the correct information, or is it best to allow the first amendment that has errors to be processed first?
Thanks for this info. I have been dealing with the same issues and it it very frustrating. Turbotax should never put several boxes with the same number in the data entry form,. Very confusing!

Per IRS instructions for Form 8959 must be filed if:   Your Medicare wages and tips on any single Form W-2 (box 5) are greater than $200,000. Your RRTA compensation on any single Form W-2 (box 14) is greater than $200,000. Your total Medicare wages and tips plus your self-employment income, if any (including the Medicare wages and tips and self-employment income of your spouse, if married filing jointly), are greater than the threshold amount for your filing status in the Threshold Amounts for Additional Medicare Tax chart. Your total RRTA compensation and tips (Form W-2, box 14) (including the RRTA compensation and tips of your spouse, if married filing jointly) is greater than the threshold amount for your filing status in the Threshold Amounts for Additional Medicare Tax chart. Your Medicare wages include your wages and tips from Form W-2, box 5; your tips from Form 4137, line 6; and your wages from Form 8919, line 6. Your self-employment income includes amounts from Schedule SE (Form 1040), Part I, line 6. But negative amounts shouldn't be considered for purposes of Form 8959. If none of these situations apply and if you are married make sure that when you entered your income you allocated it to the correct person.  Sometimes if you allocated all forms to the same person, the additional tax will kick in.
