Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”

Ok. It is in the IRA Contributions Worksheet, Line 19. And the wording there does say not to put in any conversions. So, why is TurboTax automatically populating that line?

The federal return may not e-file with Form 3115 because it is not supported for e-file through TurboTax. You can try to e-file and then attach Form 3115 to Form 8453 as an attachment, if your return gets accepted. I see where the confusion is and apologize for that.

FYI, I ended up entering $1 in Box 1 (other boxes were filled exactly with values from IHSS W2), and IRS accepted my efile this time.

Solved. The TSP 1099R showed up after I changed an answer in the 1099 dialog to indicate that it was a pension item.

The effect of capital gains on your taxes also depends on whether your capital gains were short-term or long-term. See your Schedule D. When your short-term gains exceed your short-term losses, you pay tax on the net gain at the same ordinary income tax rates you pay on most of your other income, such as your wages or interest income. See this TurboTax Tips article for more information.
Check also to see if you have any Additional Taxes on Schedule 2, which carry over to Line 23 of Form 1040.

@jewellcrye I had this same issue. I received the CP2000 notice in Feb 2025 for 2023 filed taxes. I looked up my TurboTax account to see everything I uploaded and was getting errors from TurboTax claiming it couldn't be downloaded. I worked with Tax Audit via Turbo Tax from the deluxe membership and they said I most likely would have to pay the penalty plus owe taxes from that missing W2 (over $2K). Today I could see my documents on TurboTax from last year and every W2 was filed there correctly. It is frustrating that I uploaded each document correctly, double checked my numbers and now dealing with the consequences of what I assumed paying for deluxe would catch. There must be some glitch that occurred and I feel that TurboTax is aware but not taking accountability.

I only did one at a time. I made sure to undo the first change before doing the 2nd. When I subtracted 1k from my wages, 240 were deducted from what I owed in federal taxes. I then added 1k back to wages, which added back 240 to what I owed in federal taxes. Next I removed 1k from my 1099 int (interest from a Bank CD I had). Turbotax deducted 278 from what I owed in federal taxes. Why did Turbotax tax deduct 278 vs 240? I am in the 24 pct tax bracket. Shouldn't income from interest be treated the same way as income from wages? Thanks

Thank you @AmyC for your response; others have chimed in with additional information, (@baldietax @SteamTrain, @rjs) and I'm becoming confused as to how to proceed. Initially you had commented thtat Turbotax Deluxe automatically handled my situation of interest from US Government secutites not being taxed by my state (Oregon), implying that I didn't need to enter additional information provided by my mutual fund company (Fidelity). Is there is a way to find/verify that in TT Deluxe, or is that not neccesssarily the case? SteamTrain showed screens dealing with this in Turobotax Premier (that post doesn't seem to show up in this thread anymore) but my TTDeluxe screens do not show similarly in my dialog. If I try to edit my Fidelity 1099-DIV information, the only relevant box that shows up is Box 12-Exempt Interest Dividends, and it contains a 0.00 value.in my 1099-DIV reported by Fidelity. Other posters suggest it's not a good idea to edit Box 12 in TTDeluxe, since that's not what Fidelity provided when reporting to IRS. I hope the others might see this post as well, and pehaps provide some additional clarity as to how to proceed. Thank You! creswela

Use zero as your 2023 AGI or choose the answer that says you did not file a tax return for 2023.

That is correct.
Unless you are Self-Employed or a Military Member, moving expenses are not deductible and employer reimbursement for moving expenses are taxable income.

So it has to be the calendar year? The amount on my W-2 is close to my salary, and 1042-S is even higher than W2. If I file both W2 and 1042-S, then the tax is likely doubled. Is that correct.

There is no way to indicate the wages were unlawfully retained by your employer. You can enter a negative adjustment to income, however, to reduce the wages reported on the W-2 form. Follow these instructions:
1. From the Federal menu in TurboTax find Wages and Income
2. Find Less Common Income
3. Choose Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
4. Choose Other Reportable Income
5. Enter a description of the adjustment and the amount as a negative number

Thank you, I was able to recreate the issue from this file. Here's how we fix it:
1. Go back to the wages allocation screen in the North Carolina return.
2. Keep the first line as the full-year income. This is pulling from your W-2 and is why the amount keeps reverting. Change the status column to Not NC Source Income.
3. Change the second-line Wages column to the NC source income that you calculated. Change the status to PY NC Source Income. This will not increase your overall income.
Now when you go to file, you should see your refund stay as a refund.
