Just to clarify, should I answer then yes to this question for a roth in-plan conversion of after tax contributions? "Did you move this money from a 401(k) to a Roth 401(k)?" If so, is it fine that answering yes to this removes the ROLLOVER keyword from my return?

Yes, if you made the payment in 2024 you can report in 2024 even if the SSA did not include it on your SSA-1099. Of course you must remember not to report it again in 2025!

Thank you I have 30 small transactions, though, so starting over and entering manually will be my last resort. But you mentioned "clearing the errors" ... is there actually a way to do this in TT/Mac? The only way I've found to do anything is via the awkward checkbox+bulk edit, and nothing I do there seems to affect the red "NEEDS REVIEW" labels. And there's no indication anywhere that anything is actually wrong, or what specifically might need review.

You are correct.
You may not file a MA married filing joint tax return.
Massachusetts Department of Revenue states:
Please note that a joint return is not allowed if both you and your spouse were not Massachusetts residents for the same portion of 2024.
You may still file a married filing joint IRS form 1040 tax return but you will still have to to prepare multiple tax returns to prepare the married filing separately tax returns to Massachusetts.

I bought and downloaded a second state (not the one I reside in) that it turns out I don't have income in. How can I delete that State? None of the answers I can find about this apply to the Desktop, Mac version (home and biz) - they all appear to be for the Windows version. Thanks!

The W2C only contained a Box 15,16, and 17. It listed Kansas, income, and tax paid. My employer said they "corrected" my pay from 2024 and redirected tax money from MO to KS to make the taxes accurate.
I have asked for a new W2 showing the correct MO income and tax paid and the correct KS income and tax paid.
Currently they are refusing to saying that I have all I need. This has been a back and forth for weeks. What do I actually need to report? Do I report ALL of my income to MO? Do I report my TOTAL minus KS as MO income?
I am wondering what I need to tell them a new W2 needs to show. I am very confused.
Thank you.

Hello, I am entering my 2024 tax information into your system. We live in California. I have a W-2 for non-taxable income, specifically Box 12A with code II for Medicaid income. The employer listed is my minor child, who is also the recipient of the services for which we receive this income. As a result, we are not subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes, and this income is excluded from our gross income as well. However, when I enter this W-2, my expected refund decreases by about $3,000. Could you please help me understand why this non-taxable income is affecting my refund? Thank you for your assistance.

The IP Pin will change each and every year. This is an Identity Protection Pin.
You can get an Identity Protection pin here, or if you lost your IP PIN, you can go here to Retrieve IP PIN.
Here are two ways to navigate to the section to enter the 6 digit IP PIN:
Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return")
Once the return is open, then go to the Federal Taxes tab.
Subtab Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info.
Choose Identity Protection PIN and Start (or Revisit.)
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"
Or another way:
Open your return if not already open. ("Take me to my return.")
Once the return is open, click at the top on MY ACCOUNT, then choose TOOLS.
In the Tools window choose TOPIC SEARCH.
Enter IP PIN without quotes.
In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO.
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"

Regarding prior post, where the tax due (line 16) is not the amount calculated by using the tax tables in Pub 17. Called TurboTax this AM -- "sorry, can't tell you how TT calculates it -- contact a tax expert!" Since amount shown is less than what it appears it should be, concerned I'll be hearing from IRS re shortfall.

@LindaS5247 thank you! Re: 1. Yes, I considered having someone do it for me, but I don't know how to find a good specialist (the US law says that one is liable for any mistakes on the return even if it was prepared by someone else, so that makes selection a serious matter). I would appreciate tips on that. What would be the difference in filing before April 15 VS after (with tax extension)? Would it make the penalty higher? Re: 3. So, certified paper letters only? I have been recording my conversations with Fidelity over the phone (and I tell them that every time, also they warn about recording too when you call them). Is that still worse than certified letters? Thanks

Is there a refund you will receive? Is it being sent as a check?
If there is no refund and no check being sent, the address won't effect anything.
