When you use online TurboTax the fee is the same whether you e-file or mail it in an envelope. There is no fee to e-file. The fees are for using the software to prepare your tax return.

The situation you described would not be considered to be bartering in a taxable income sense.
If you were in the business of selling desserts and you agreed to provide a dessert in exchange for a service provided by another person (housekeeping, for example), then that would be a bartering exchange.
Take a look at the following information from the IRS to learn more:
Topic no. 420, Bartering income

I can't be 100% certain that you don't have to mail any other forms. Have you followed DoninGA's advice to check the Print Center for All Worksheets to see if there are any documents to be mailed? There are some situations where CO wants documentation for certain credits/subtractions claimed on the return, and they may have to be mailed or uploaded to the Colorado Department of Revenue.
In addition to checking the Print Center in TurboTax, if you are expecting a refund, you can check on the status of your CO refund here. That should let you know if your return has been processed or is waiting for additional documentation.

Annette, Thanks for the helpful reply. I do know about being able to claim up to $3,000 loss per year, but I can claim over $3,000 in the year it's reported? Say if I sell stock at a capital gain of $25k in 2025, I could immediately put $25k from the house to cover that? Thanks again!

After doing some more digging, it appears the retention bonus my wife received in 2021 was $6k and not $5k. I apologize for not being accurate with the amount in my initial post. Then in 2022 she was instructed by her employer to repay only $5,541 (i.e., the $6k minus the 6.2% in SS tax ($372) and 1.45% in Medicare tax ($87)), which she did. After she repaid the $5,541 in 2022, the 2021 W-2c my wife received in November of 2022, reflected the $6k reduction in SS and Medicare wages in boxes 3 and 5 and the $372 less of SS tax withheld in box 4 and the $87 less of Medicare tax withheld in box 6. My question is: Do I need to file a form 843 for the $372 of SS tax and $87 of Medicare tax that was withheld from the initial payment OR not as it appears that this may simply be an internal accounting issue on the part of the employer that they have already addressed? (I understand that I still need to file an amended return for 2022.)

if you don't have any adjustments (wash sales, AMD, noncovered categories) you can certainly simply input the 1099B as a "sales summary" with proceeds and cost basis. You can enter adjustments/noncovereds as summaries also with adjustments, which will create Form 8949 but without the details and triggers the need to mail 8453 with statement. This mailing is avoided by inputting these sales instead as "one by one" with the details; and the balance of your 1099B can be input separately as "sales summary" without adjustments. I always input my 1099s and had about 30 adjustments which doesn't take long to enter and the rest as summaries is very simple. Not familiar with futures, I did have some options reported as 1256 contracts which is a different process. Short options that expire with proceeds and zero cost basis may be reported as noncovered securities which creates the need to either use one-by-one or mail the 8453 if you can't import.

Did your dependent say they could not be claimed and cause your own return to be rejected? Waiting for their amended return to be processed will do no good.
You have two options. Print sign and mail your return that claims the dependent. Or...get an IP PIN and try to e-file.
GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return
