If your spouse used desktop software the returns are stored only on the hard drive of the computer that was used to prepare the returns or on any backup device used like a flash drive. They are not stored online. If you filed joint returns you have a right to copies of those returns---but you might need to get your attorney involved if your spouse is uncooperative.
Or----get transcripts for free from the IRS:
You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.

Hi and thanks much for the reply! had done everything you said down to the last part So, still some questions. REVISED: The K-1 for line 14 says "I * K-1Wks QBI" so because the first letter is a capital i, I selected capital i and it shows "I-Section 199A" . I left the amount blank and continued. Continuing leads to additional screens, but since this isn't business income, the only possible choice for "I" seems to be REIT dividends, which these are not. These are dividends from mutual funds in a multi-generation trust. I didn't reach a screen that said "We see you have Section 199A income" I don't see where I'm supposed to enter anything about "K-1 Wks QBI". Thanks for any additional help!!

I am trying to print out the return to review it but it is on a loop and only saves to a PDF the return. It will not print to a hard copy. What do I need to do to get it to print?

Thank you, DaveF. Unfortunately, I can't find this question, at least not in my Premier Desktop version. I went through: - Other Tax Situations > Additional taxes and repayments, but it has only specific boxes for various recaptures, installment sales, etc., but no question or free-form entry for "additional modifications." - Other Tax Forms > Miscellaneous tax forms... The "Learn More" link claims that it covers 8960, but the actual interview questions also don't add anything else. - I even tried deleting 8960 altogether, but the program just recreated it without triggering any additional interview questions. Looks like I have to do this in Forms view after all (in the 8960 worksheet, not the form itself). Thankfully that was easy enough, which I appreciate about TurboTax. But it would be nice if this were automatic in next year's version.

You do not need the beneficiary's Social Security number in order to claim a contribution to the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET).
You can enter this information in your state return by going through the income section on the page titled 'Here's the income that Connecticut handles differently'. Then under the Education category, find CHET Contributions and click Start to enter your information.

Did this and got no assistance, no help. Waste of time and energy. Personally, I am done with TurboTax promising one free state and then double charging me, but this year charging me $80.00 to file one state return for my daughter. That is way out of line. I let go the additional $25 every year for several years now. For 2026, they have really stepped up the level of fraudulent fees charged to credit cards. I see and was even told to use the key words "billing issue" and got nothing, nada. This is a scam and nothing else can be concluded by this breach of contract, breach of trust, breach of product confidence.

I am the personal representative for an estate. I live in a different state from the deceased person. The Turbotax program (TurboTax Business 2025) wants me to file the state tax return in my state. I need to file in the deceased's state. How can I get the program to generate a return for the deceased's state?

Do you mean online Premium---there is no online Premier. Premier is desktop software.
When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.
Each return needs its own email, account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.
