@ haridarshana You cannot move a started 2024 return from the desktop product to Online TurboTax without starting over, if that's what you are wanting to do. You can only transfer last year's 2023 data file from the desktop into 2024 Online TurboTax. To switch from 2024 desktop Premier to Online, you'd have to start over in Online TurboTax and would be charged again unless you ask for a product refund for your desktop Premier. The license code for Premier cannot be used to pay for Online TurboTax. Why would you want to make that move? The desktop Premier is superior and has more features, including Forms Mode to view/edit forms during preparation. Desktop Premier also includes a state program download to prepare a state return. In Online TurboTax there is an additional fee to prepare a state return. Desktop Premier can prepare multiple Federal returns. Online TurboTax can only prepare 1 Federal return per account per year.

Another question please. For 2023 amend and 2024 tax filing, when TurboTax asks for the amount contributed to Roth IRA, do I enter just the amounts contributed for each respective year ($7,500 for 2023 and $8,000 for 2024)? Or do I enter amount contributed AND its earnings? And what do I enter for "Corrective distributions made before the due date of the return" please? Amount contributed and its earnings? Thank you for your help.

The solution for me was to continue and let TT immediately say my state return was complete. Then I went back and individually went through each state topic manually. I hope that by next tax season TT and Intuit will have this issue fixed. It appears from other posts to be around for a while.

2 days ago I filed my taxes and as a result immediately paid from my bank account an underpayment penalty of nearly 2400 dollars. However in my haste to get my return done I failed to claim a dependent that will surely flip the script on this return. My return has been excepted but not processed. What do I do now?

If boxes 5 and 6 are blank, then also leave box 7 blank, You can safely ignore the number in box 7 as there is no state tax withheld in box 5.

@AnnetteB6 Unfortunately, I do not feel comfortable putting my taxes in the mail. Thats a lot of personal information. I also am paying for Turbotax to do my taxes for me so having to do the long statement that you suggest doesn't make a lot of sense. So, is this an IRS issue or a Turbotax issue? Each time I have called and talk to a Turbotax expert on the phone I have been given the run around. Some act totally clueless, and others have told me things that I don't think I should do such as unchecking the box that says I share this home and cost with someone else on form 5695 to get it to go through. Sorry but this is very frustrating. I have used Turbotax for a long as I can remember but this year has been a huge disappointment on so many levels.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...

You have to click on the TAX TOOLS tab to expand it to display the submenu where you will see the TOOLS subtab. If you do that, but the TOOLS tab is not showing, it's because you need to make that menu scroll up or down. The Tax Tools submenu may be hidden by an overlapping menu. But you can move the left menu column elements up or down to get it from being overlapped at the bottom, and then the Tools subtab should come into view below Tax Tools. When you click on the TOOLS subtab, the Tools Center window should open, where you can choose "Clear and Start Over."
