Did you pay estimated taxes for 2025? TurboTax generates estimated tax payment vouchers if you are self-employed or there isn't enough withholding from your income. If you pay the estimated taxes and your income and credits are similar to 2025, you won't have a balance due when you file your taxes. You don't have to make these payments, TurboTax calculates the estimated tax payments based on the information from your current taxes.   For more information, please review the TurboTax Help article Why did 1040-ES estimated tax vouchers print out? Do I need them?   TurboTax calculates your estimated tax payments based on the information from your 2025 taxes. They use the lower of 100% of your actual 2025 taxes or 90% of your estimated 2026 taxes.    Refer to the TurboTax Help article How does TurboTax calculate my estimated tax payments? for more information.

You don't have to upload your Social Security card or identification to TurboTax to file a tax return. Just enter your name and Social Security Number exactly as they appear on your Social Security card.   If your return is rejected due to a mismatch, log in to your TurboTax program and edit your Personal Information section to match your card.   If you received a letter from the IRS (such as a 5071C letter), you can verify your identity on the official IRS website.   According to the IRS you will verify your identity with the IRS, using the official ID.me secure service at irs.gov/verifyreturn. This is for taxpayers who received a CP5071C, 5071C, or 5447C letter to verify their return. You will need your notice, tax return documents, and a smartphone or computer with a webcam to take a selfie and upload your identifying documents.   Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

Hello,   US-Poland treaty in article 20 states that all Polish taxes imposed on my salary should be counted towards my US tax obligations.  Article 21 par. 4 states that retirement contributions shall be considered as tax. On my Polish pay stubs social tax is divided into four categories: - retirement - pension - sickness insurance - accident insurance  All four are summed and subtracted from gross salary on my Polish tax return (called social security tax). Does article 21 par 4 mean retirement contribution part of social security tax should be treated as tax and therefore is eligible for US tax credit? Moreover article 21 par 1 says that US resident (Polish citizen) can’t be taxed at higher rates than US citizen would be. In the States employee contribution to retirement plan is tax free - does it confirm that all my Polish contributions to retirement plan shall be also tax free for IRS, meaning deducted from my Polish income or declared as tax credits? In Poland retirement system consists of two programs one mandatory (ZUS) and second voluntary (PPK) to both programs contributions are made from employee salary but to ZUS it’s pre tax and to PPK is subject to taxes.   Best,   Lukasz

It does not matter, as long as they are in Box 12 and the amounts are correct. Everything is fine!

Form 8453 being generated and paying your tax online via IRS Direct Pay don't have anything to do with each other.  Indicating you paid by mail and paying online is fine and doesn't require any entry in TurboTax.  If Form 8453 was generated even though you didn't enter any summary transactions, there may some information that is triggering it.  Did you import your Form 1099-B?  If so, that could be the reason.  You can review the adjustment codes used on Form 8949 Line 1 f.  If there is a code M, it indicates multiple transactions and requires Form 8453 and Form 8949 (with all transactions listed) or Form 1099-B be mailed.

Generally if you don't send in Form 2210 with your tax return, the IRS will send you a bill.  It may have been waived. It's possible it got missed. If you had an underpayment penalty last year, you should enter it.   How to this verify in TurboTax View your Tax Summary/Form 1040: Open your 2024 return in TurboTax. Go to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary. Click Preview My 1040 on the left side menu. Look at Line 38 (Estimated Tax Penalty). If it is blank or $0, you did not file a penalty payment. If you used a desktop program, open your 2024 return in your 2024 desktop program, switch to forms mode by clicking on Forms at the top right of your TurboTax screen and scroll down your forms listed on the left to look at your Form 1040. View your Form 2210: If you are using a Desktop Program, Go to Forms Mode (Desktop) by clicking on Forms in the top-right of your TurboTax screen Search for Form 2210. If it is there, you can see if it was calculated or if a waiver was applied. Check your Other Tax Situations: Go to Federal > Other Tax Situations > Underpayment Penalties. Review the entries to see if "Request a Waiver" was checked.  If you paid at least 90% of your current year's tax (2024) or 100% of last year's tax (2023) (110% if AGI was high), you might not owe a penalty even if you owed $25,000 at filing or it may have been waived.   The easiest and most reliable way to check this is to check your IRS Tax Account Transcript for 2024 at IRS.gov. This will show exactly what was filed, paid, and any penalties that were assessed. If you don't have an account you can create on using that link as well.   If you have additional information or questions regarding this, please return to Community and we would be glad to help.
