My husband and I both have pensions through the same organization.  I got the question about regular payments but did not get it for my husband's 1099.  Same info entered...the only difference is that he is subject to RMD but it comes from different accounts, not his pension.  Thoughts??

The $4,000 on line 2 of Form 8606 came from a user entry, either explicitly entered into 2025 TurboTax when it asks for basis from contributions made before 2025, or carried in on the IRA Information Worksheet from having been similarly entered into TurboTax for some previous year or from actually reporting a nondeductible traditional IRA contribution in some previous year.  (If a nondeductible traditional IRA contribution had been reported in some previous year, it would have been reported on Form 8606.)  Since you don't remember doing either, either method of having created the basis information is possible.   If you truly believe that you have no such basis, you can continue from the page that list the Forms 1099-R that you have entered and when TurboTax asks if you made nondeductible traditional IRA contributions, answer No.  That should cause TurboTax to erase that $4,000 from the IRA Information Worksheet.  You can confirm that that has happened by seeing that Part I of Form 8606 no longer has anything in it and Part II of Form 8606 shows the entire Roth conversion as being taxable.

For TurboTax Online (Most Common) If you already filed, your return is likely "locked," but you can still view the breakdown of fees:   Sign in to your TurboTax account.  On the Tax Home page, scroll down to the section labeled "Your tax returns & documents."  Select the 2025 (or current) tax year. Look for a link that says "View order summary" or "View details." This will show the itemized costs for the software, state filing, and the "Refund Processing Service" fee (usually around $40–$45), if you had the fees deducted from your refund. For TurboTax Desktop (CD/Download) Open your TurboTax program. In the top black menu bar, select Tools and then Order History. A window will pop up showing your purchase and any e-filing fees paid

@haleyrsd my apologies for not giving more regular updates. The fixes on our end were placed on hold until the Idaho legal situation was finalized in early March.   As it stands now, as Roger said above, we're anticipating that the state program will be fully updated by a tentative date of March 19th, but again, that's still a moving target.    My recommendations are to check back again, on or after Thursday, Mar. 19th and: Step 1) Make sure your desktop software is fully updated (Mac) OR clear your browser if using T.T. Online Note: See the FAQ here if you experience software update issues (Mac vers.) Step 2) Open your return and select State Taxes to verify the New Idaho Tax Law Changes warning screen has been cleared. Step 3) Complete your return, run the error check, and file as usual.   If the warning screen is still present:   1) @ Tag Roger on Thursday the 19th for more info, or contact customer support. 2) Tag me @MelindaS1 starting on Saturday the 21st for more information.   If I get any updates that are concrete between now and then, I'll return to this thread and others in Community. I haven't forgotten about the ID state issue; it has been a dynamic situation, and I understand this has represented both delay and difficulty.   An additional note: If the matter is urgent, there is still the option to file your state return now as-is and amend it later on, as per the Idaho Changes screen.
The basis from previous years would be your non-deductible IRA contributions that are still sitting in a traditional IRA account at end of 2024. You may have made a wrong entry there.

Can you clarify whether or not you actually FILED the return or did you just PRINT the return?      If you have not submitted it for e-filing yet, you can make changes.   If you did submit it, was it accepted yet?  Or what is the status of your return?      You may not need to do an amended return.   But if you do, you should wait until the original gets processed.

None of the other fixes worked, but holding down the control key does!  Its amusing that this is a problem that is being actively worked on.  Entering credit card data is certainly state of the art stuff.  Is there any adult supervision in the nursery school that is working on this?  Better yet is there any adult supervision of the people managing Turbo Tax.  I can sort of forgive problems with some of the tax nuances, but this one is just gross negligence.
If your amounts are significantly less, you will receive a refund for the difference.

Thank you! How do I add it in online version? I am opening it through Metlife to use the discount.   Can we create case for Turbotax support to look into this as well? I am asking this same question here from the time the session was opened in the morning (7 hours ago), and I still can't understand what do I do with this. I am afraid it will not be solved in 1 hour left till the end of the meeting.
I meant to ask if Form 8606 PART 1 Line 2   total basis value of zero means that the Roth IRA conversion amount would be 100% taxable.
I am using online version because I am connecting through Metlife to use the discount. Can I do it in online version?
