The 30% credit for a heat pump water heater is not limited to your main home.   From IRS Fact Sheet FS-2025-01: A taxpayer claiming the credit for electric or natural gas heat pump water heaters; electric or natural gas heat pumps; central air conditioners; natural gas, propane, or oil water heaters; natural gas, propane, or oil furnaces or hot water boilers; biomass stoves or boilers; oil furnaces or hot water boilers; and improvements to, or replacements of, panelboards, sub-panelboards, branch circuits, or feeders must have installed such property in a home located in the United States and used as a residence by the taxpayer. In this case, the taxpayer may rent the home in which such property is installed, and such property may be installed in the taxpayer’s second home.   This is different from other categories of energy improvements, such as insulation, doors, and windows that are limited to your main home.

I repeated the W-2 steps several times and the Other Situations page never included that option.

During final review,  Was told there was a problem with prior year Soc Sec. and said I needed to enter a value in 1040, line 6.  When I enter the value from the worksheet, it keeps showing up as an area to be checked and provides and amount that should be there.  When I change the amount, it again shows a problem and has a different value.

Have TurboTax Deluxe for Windows. I manually enter data for Wages and Income. How do I get TT to quit presenting the 'Import your data now from' window? It is a pain to have to select Skip Import every time, especially if you have a fair amount of entries.   This feature needs to be turned off. Is there a setting or configuration change to stop this?   TT should have a setting to enable or disable this feature.   Thanks
I live in Nevada. The Vouchers for 1040ES show Charlotte, NC address instead of Louisville. KY. How Do I fix this?

If this was a CD inside an IRA, the early withdrawal penalty charged by the bank is not deductible. There are really two different things that get called “penalties” and it helps to separate them.   If the bank reduced your balance because you broke the CD early, that’s just a contractual penalty. It lowers the value of your IRA, but it isn’t a tax deduction. There’s nothing specific to deduct for that.   Separately, if you took money out of the IRA before age 59½, there may also be a 10% early distribution penalty from the IRS unless you qualify for an exception. That’s a tax calculation issue, not something you deduct either.   So in short, an early withdrawal fee on a CD inside an IRA is not deductible. It simply reduces what you received.   And for anyone opening CDs inside or outside retirement accounts, it’s worth checking the early withdrawal terms carefully. For example, you could use CD Valet, a CD marketplace that lists over 40,000 CD rates from federally-insured banks and credit unions across the US, which makes it easier to compare terms before locking in your money.

@JohnRic      Just fyi, if you're still experiencing the zip code issue, I suggest calling TurboTax and asking to speak to the Resolution Department to get the Desktop version (including MI) for free.   TurboTax was finally able to provide me with a resolution so I could file my taxes correctly (without the zip code issue on the MI Homestead tax credit form).  The Resolution Department gave me a free Desktop version (plus MI). I was able to import my data from my online account, and there is no zip code issue on the MI Homestead tax credit form when using the Desktop version.   Overall, this zip code issue has been a royal pain, with a ridiculous amount of time spent/wasted on the phone with customer service reps (over multiple days) and my posts/responses in this Community forum.  Extremely frustrating.   Each time I’d call in and spend time explaining and trying all of their steps to hopefully get it to work property, with screen sharing, it wasn’t until my last call on Saturday where I was FINALLY transferred to their Resolution Department (who knew there was such a department!).    Even then, I had to spend quite a bit of time going over the situation yet again, with additional screen sharing, but I was finally offered this solution.   Apparently, a regular CSR can’t simply transfer you to the Resolution Dept… they need to obtain permission first.   Early on, all I really wanted was acknowledgement that there was in fact this issue that needed to be fixed (presumably programmatically)… but after giving it a week and calling in every few days to check in on the status, I was very frustrated that no one could actually confirm that this was known issue that would get fixed (beyond my calling and posting in this forum, and pointing out that you and one other person had reported this exact issue here... at one point on Saturday I was told their IT never "took over" my issue/investigation, meaning no one was fixing it).   If you haven’t reached a resolution yet, I suggest calling and asking/insisting to speak with the Resolution Department… with the knowledge that the free Desktop version (plus MI) is the resolution I had been provided.   It's not ideal, but at least it's something... and now I don't have to waste any more of my time with CSRs.  Now, I have to spend more of my time to use the Desktop version and then going through everything (again) with a fine-tooth comb before filing.  And to think paid good money for this... for all of my wasted time and now duplicative effort to learn and use the Desktop version.   Hoping this will help you.   @thereseozi

TurboTax Premier (desktop) seems to generate an incorrect amount in line 2 on 8606. I haven't had Traditional IRA balances for many years; each year I contribute the max (e.g., $8000) to my IRA and then convert it to Roth IRA a week later. Thus no balance in Traditional IRA and just a few dollars I have to pay tax on. I've checked my  8606's for the previous years, and they always had a 0 on line 2. This year it's a large amount which, interestingly, matched the line 2 for my spouse (who was not doing backdoor IRA for a bunch of reasons). So, how come my 8606 - line 2 has some large amount instead of a 0 ?

I am writing to request your assistance regarding my tax refund. I filed my U.S. taxes through TurboTax after participating in the J1 Work and Travel program in the United States. I successfully completed my tax return on your platform and provided my U.S. bank account details to receive my refund. Unfortunately, my U.S. bank account has since been closed/blocked, and I no longer have access to it. As a result, I am unable to receive my tax refund because the account where the funds were supposed to be deposited is no longer active. At the moment, I am back in Romania and I am not physically present in the United States, so I am unable to open a new U.S. bank account. I would like to kindly ask if there is any possible way to redirect or reissue my tax refund. Specifically, I would like to know if it is possible for the refund to be deposited into another person’s active U.S. bank account, or if there is any alternative method for me to receive my funds. This refund is very important to me, and I would truly appreciate any guidance or support you can provide. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
If your return was rejected you have to correct the error and file again.  What code was given for the rejection?

Is it a bug?   As the title implies. I'm being prompted to log transactions. One sale was .00004 of ETH. It tells me the value must be greater than 0. It was not greater than 0. I tried emailing but there is no email to contact Turbotax. I tried calling and couldn't get anyone on the phone. I tried searching here and found nothing.    I'm just not going to include the 1099-DA in my taxes this year, thanks Turbotax.
