Yes, you will want to omit the Cash Tips for Box 12 on your W2 for your TurboTax entry. The Code for cash tips was added very late so it is not a required entry for 2025 and TurboTax currently does not recognize it. If your cash tips are also correctly reported in Box 7 of your W-2 TurboTax will prompt you so that you can receive the deduction for 2025. IF they are not in Box 7, after you finish the main W-2 entry, TurboTax will display a screen titled "Let's check for uncommon situations" or "Do any of these uncommon situations apply?". You can indicate "I have tips included in Box 1 that are not in Box 7" and continue the interview to get the deduction. For more information and details, see No Tax on Tips: How It Works in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files) because a full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax. You can try these steps if you are using the online version:
Clearing your Cache and Cookies
Using a different browser
Opening an Incognito Window
If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.

I tried opening the pdf in Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. None would open it. I keep getting errors or invalid file responses. Hitting ctrl and P didn't get me anything but a black page with an error message on it. I tried opening it in Adobe, Pdf gear and Sedja. None would open it. I tried to open after signing in as admin with all antivirus and firewalls turned off. It still will not open. Thank you for your help, but nothing works. No response from technical issues department as of yet. Searching through old messages in the community shows they've had this issue for at least 8 years and still have not fixed it. It is well known to them. I'm not paying again for another software because my taxes have been accepted. The IRS obviously needs this form, but I can't open it to be able to send it to them. Turbotax is responsible for this error and they need to fix it immediately.

Here are some troubleshooting ideas for you to import your 1099 forms:
If prompted to connect in a browser, click the shield icon to the left of the URL and disable Enhanced Tracking Protection
Clear cache/cookies, then try the import again
If importing from Schwab or TD Ameritrade, remove special characters from your password temporarily, as they can cause authentication issues
If the import is over 4MB or contains excessive transactions, it may time out; switch to manual entry
Temporarily disable firewalls or antivirus software, which can block connection to broker servers
Check for Duplicate Files: If you receive a "duplicate installation" error, delete one of the instances
Ensure your document ID from the broker has the correct number of characters
You could also enter your information manually, follow the steps below and select Skip Import. Then follow the remaining screens to manually add your 1099-B data.
Go to Federal, then Wages & Income, then Investments and Savings
Select Revisit next to Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B)
If you see Did you sell any of these investments in 2025?, select Yes. If you see Your Investment summary, select Add more sales
Select Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds and Continue
Type the name of your financial institution in the search box, select the appropriate financial institution name, and select Continue
You can use your summary of transactions separated by the short term and long term holdings based on how long you have held the investments. This is acceptable to the IRS and you have the detail to keep with your tax return files should they request them.
Please reach out again if your problem persists.

You will not get the childcare credit until (unless) you enter income earned from working. The credit does not work unless you enter your income first. If you are filing a joint return you must show income for both spouses, or show that one or both of you was a student or disabled. If you have self-employment income and show a loss you will not get the childcare credit. You will not get the credit if you are filing married filing separately.
If you have entered all of your income and you have entered your dependent(s) then work on the childcare credit by entering the Tax ID or Social Security number of your childcare provider and enter the amount you paid for the childcare.
One of the most common mistakes that messes up the childcare credit for people is listing all of the earned income under only one name on a joint return. Make very sure that your incomes are listed under each of your names. It’s pretty easy to check. Go to the Income section, and click “update” on Wages and Salary. That will take you to the W-2 Summary. Do you see income listed under both of your names?
The person receiving the care had to be 12 or under or qualified as mentally or physically disabled. To claim the childcare credit you need to be filing as Head of Household or Married Filing Jointly. (NOT married filing separately)
If your child was born in 2025 make sure you say the child lived with you all year. The credit is a percentage of your expenses based on your AGI (the higher the income, the lower the percentage) You must provide the Social Security number for each child you are claiming, and the Social Security number or Tax ID for each care provider.
In the case of divorced or never-married parents—only the custodial parent can use the childcare credit.
And remember that the childcare credit is a NON-refundable credit. It can reduce your tax owed down to zero, but it is not added to your refund.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Yes, you are currently over the combined IRA limit for the 2026 tax year, which is $7,500 if you are under age 50 (or $8,600 if you are 50 or older). Your total contribution of $11,500 ($3,500 traditional + $8,000 Roth) puts you $4,000 over the cap, and since a rollover is simply a transfer of existing funds, it does not "reset" or increase your annual contribution allowance.
Regarding the question, you should answer "No," as a rollover is not considered a "repayment" of a previous distribution.
To fix the over-contribution and avoid a 6% annual penalty, you can contact your brokerage to re-characterize or designate the initial $3,500 Traditional IRA contribution to the 2025 tax year, provided you do so by the April 15, 2026 deadline and haven't already hit your 2025 limit of $7,000 ($8,000 if 50+). If you apply that $3,500 to 2025, your 2026 total would drop to $8,000, leaving you only $500 over the 2026 limit, which can be resolved through a withdrawal of excess contributions.

You may qualify for the TurboTax Free Military Tax Filing if you are active duty of an enlisted rank (E-1 through E-9) with a W-2 from DFAS.
In the My Info section, make sure to fill out the information related to your military service, including your highest military pay grade in 2025.
If you meet the above criteria, the information entered in My Info and your DFAS W-2 will allow you to file your federal and state taxes for free.
To print your tax return and activate the free filing, go to Tax Tools>Print Center on the left menu in TurboTax Online and select Print/save/preview this year's return.
Click Pay Now to get to the TurboTax payment screen, which should show zero due because of the military discount.
Another option is to go to File on the left menu and go to Step 1 - Review your order. It should show zero due after the military discount is applied.
Here is information on the TurboTax Free Military Tax Filing.

Even if your AGI appears on a transcript, the IRS e-file validation system sometimes fails to recognize it for first-time resident filers or those who previously filed 1040-NR.
If it was already rejected once with the AGI from the 1040NR, trying the same number again will almost certainly result in another rejection. The standard "fix" recommended by the IRS is to enter $0 as your prior-year AGI and resubmit.
