As the question states, my mom makes about 30k with SSDI and I'll have given her, via bank transfer, a little over half of what she makes with SSDI (15-16k). I don't think that counts for paying 50% of her care, right? She uses the money to pay bills and buy groceries.

In my opinion, this is REALLY something that you need to sit down with a good tax professional to discuss. Between vehicle limits (you may not be eligible to take the full deduction), Social Security maximums, goals/projections for the future, and the question if an S-corporation is even a good idea for your other business, you really need somebody that can analyze your ENTIRE situation.

If you have never been depreciating the property (you would have entered it in the exact same place/way that you are depreciating the improvements and furniture), you'll need Form 3115 to start doing that and to 'catch up' on the missed depreciation. TurboTax does not really support that, and I highly suggest going to a good tax professional that is experienced with Form 3115 for missed depreciation.

@adm wrote: Assuming that not subsidized COBRA is the grey zone, As you said, that is a big gray area. While I would probably take it, I think most tax professionals would NOT take it. Has the corporation been paying for it, either directly or by reimbursing you in the proper time frame of an Accountable Plan? If not, it doesn't go on the W-2 nor does it qualify for the self-employed health insurance deduction.

They also needs to meet the EER2 ratings and the HSPF2 ratings. Based on your high SEER2 ratings I suspect they may also meet the EER2 and HSPF2 ratings, but you'll need to check.

Ok thank you so much for the detailed explanation. As it would be a very small business and I don't know how it will go. Is to possible to start registering the new business with a Fictitious Name under the same LLC and then in the future if I see that it's growing create a separate LLC for it or it would be complicated to do it once the business it's already established? Thank you

Intuit took that offline so that data was not able to be downloaded after 10/20. That was extended another week or so but it appears to be over at this point (i.e., downloading data not available).

I wasn’t able to download my 2025 its deductible data before it became unavailable. Will I still be able to retrieve it?

Your suggestion is a good one, so let's set that aside for the moment. Looking just at the technical aspect of the question, I do not believe that correcting entries on the Federal Carryover *Worksheet* is actually an override. Unlike a calculated field on a form with an override, I don't believe inputting a different value than was transferred from last year on a worksheet would prevent efiling. In retrospect, I should not have used the word "override" in my original comment.

@Click 1) There are so many software and form updates needed between now and the end of January, that I "Strongly" suggest you start over with a new file in late January....after which, most of the critical bugs will have been fixed. If you try to go with you current file, there might be some other errors that crop up that might be unfixable. AND 2) The software will not allow you to e-file a tax return containing any fields with overrides or marked as being estimated numbers in them. You would only be able to print and mail-file. Thus, only use your early prep to get an idea of what the final filing might look like. Starting over could be a bit of a pain, but it may well be less frustrating at the time you end up filing.

Never mind. I tested this using a new return and found that the bug has not been corrected as if 2025.47.5 (Nov 13, 2025). And it appears that I'll have to leave the override in place all the way through to filing as there is no way to retrigger a transfer from last year without starting over (as far as I can tell).

Yes, you can use the 2025 TurboTax Deluxe desktop edition to report the capital loss carryover.
