When I use the Business Maryland Decoupling Adjustment, the quantity appears on form 502, line 13 under code CC, when it should be code DP. I cannot see how to change the code. Also, on the form 500DM that is generated, the amount is showing up on line 6 instead of line 7. Is there another place that I should be entering the decoupling from PTE amount?

Make sure you have read all the terms of that "flex loan" and make sure you understand that you will be paying interest for that loan.

The transfer from you to the LLC would be a capital contribution. You might want to consult with a qualified professional in your area.

No one knows what will happen in the future, certainly possible that Intuit will eventually exit desktop but I would think it's still years away. TT Online/Live has about 35mil returns for $4bn revenue growing 8-10% whereas desktop is 4mil users for $200mil revenue shrinking 5% annually. Intuit made some moves this year to cut support on things they projected would have low users/revenue - Win10, ItsDeductible (100k users) and Basic Desktop edition. Clearly Intuit are pushing towards online where the growth is, who knows the net effect of the changes this year on the desktop user base but it could take a step down to 3.5mil or less, we'll see in the earnings next year. It's probably easy decision to trim support around services only used by a few hundred thousand, but exiting desktop altogether for a few million users is a bigger move.

Thanks for the speciality in your response and the link to the mad status description. Seems our situation will be dictated by MA rules to file Fed as married separate and the do the same for each state, MA and RI for each resident as well as non-resident based on income earned in that state. We don’t itemize deductions with the new standard and the SALT cap.

Thanks DoninGA! I recall that was the case in the past. Does anybody else have some insight on whether future TT will only be web-based?

I already have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable and a more current Microsoft .NET than 4.8 installed on my PC, since I keep Windows 11 current. I am concerned that the TurboTax installation process may uninstall my current versions and install their older versions, and that my other programs may not run properly anymore. Does anyone know if this will happen? I need to know before I try installing TurboTax 2025.

@hollidaytracina7 Sorry, but e-filing of 2024 tax returns using TTX software has been closed for at least two weeks now...and will open up again ONLY for 2025 tax returns when the transition to 2025 filing has been completed and available. Thus, you will have to print and mail-file whichever 2024 tax returns you had not successfully e-filed before (Fed, State or both). ________________________ If you've finished them, but just haven't filed them, then you may be able to download a PDF of each/both from your Online account, either now, or sometime in the next few weeks from the prior year area of your account. If you haven't finished them, then you will have to download and install the "Desktop" software (for full Windows or MAC computers only) and make the appropriate corrections/edits, then print and mail file them (Fed and state, if both are needed, go to different addresses). IF you are getting refunds, there is usually no penalty for filing late. ______________ If you already paid for the "Online" software when you originally filed, you may be able to get a free desktop software download from Customer Support next week, (not open now on weekends) : How do I contact TurboTax?

I’m now preparing for year-end tax planning. In the past, I would download the TT Software to my desktop computer and start my return in January – February. During the March–April time period, I would vacation somewhere and install my already purchased TT on my laptop to complete my return and file at a different location. Am I still going to be able to install TT on multiple machines? I thought I read somewhere that the future years TT will be only web-based. Is this correct? I am a long-time user of TT and prefer the peace of mind that my return is not sitting out there, with all the details that went into creating it, on some server. Is TT doing away with downloading the TT executable software onto our personal devices? Or, will it be optional to use the web or our own devices?

You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

E-filing is permanently closed for 2024 returns. The only way you can file a 2024 return now is to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
