For our 2025 Kansas State Tax Return I cannot find anywhere to enter quarterly taxes we have already paid to Kansas. Where is it?

Whether you should claim your pension as type "N" or type "P" depends on the source of your pension and, specifically in the context of Michigan state tax, whether it is a private or other type of taxable income.   Based on tax return preparation guidance: Choose Type P (Private/Other): This is generally used for private pensions, annuities, and IRAs. Choose Type N (Other): In contexts like Michigan tax returns, this is often used for other distributions that are taxable but do not fit into the specific categories of Military (M), Railroad (R), Government/Public (G), or Private (P). Key Considerations: Source Matters: If your pension is from a private employer, "P" is typically correct. Michigan Specifics: If you are filing a Michigan tax return, selecting the correct letter is critical for applying for pension exemptions on Form 4884. 1099-R Code: If you are looking at your Form 1099-R, Code 7 (Normal Distribution) often aligns with type "P," while other codes might require "N

And I'm trying to import Apex 1099s to TT for Stash.  I really think this is a TT and/or Apex issue vs a computer/settings issue or specific to any one bank or company.  I can't get a straight answer from either TT or Apex (who never pick up their phones) whether the connection has finally been made and the 1099 documents, which are definitely available, have been "released"
Excellent

No, do not amend your 2024 taxes.   When you receive the 1099-SA for the withdrawal of the $429 (plus any interest) and enter it in your 2025 return, then several things will happen:   The following assumes that you actually withdrew the $429 Additional Income (line 18 and 20 on the 8889) and received a 1099-SA for this amount with a distribution code of 1, as opposed to just rolling it over to 2025. The amount of the distribution (line 1) is added to your 2025 income The amount on line 20 (8889) (Last-month rule income on line 18 (8889)) is multiplied by 10%, which is also added to 2025 income The amount of the carryover less than or equal to this distribution is canceled and will no longer carry over to the subsequent year. That is, there is nothing that you have to enter to cause this to happen, other than entering the 1099-SA for $429 with a distribution code of 1 on your 2025 return.

you can not deduct any sales tax.  To claim the tax for these items, you must keep adequate records that support the amount you paid. While the IRS does not specifically mandate original paper receipts, you must have enough documentation to prove the tax was paid at the general rate. For home construction or renovations, the rules are more strict and generally require that you pay the tax yourself and not make a reimburement of to the party that actually paid the tax.     Most taxpayers don't know this, but when they are the initial buyers of a home, they are likely reimbursing the contractor for the sale tax paid.  Those who know this and want the deduction buy the materials directly ad pay the tax. At least some did it years ago when there was no limit on the tax deduction on schedule A.
Same situation.  When I look at "Forms" I can see Merrill and Schwab entries but "(Not Done)" next to them.  I would like to have TurboTax work properly.

Appreciate your answer, but it appears that it applies only to the on-line version of TT. There is no similar query in the desktop version. Do you know if/when TT will issue an update so that the the 2 versions are in agreement? and, if not, how does one handle the same situation when using the desktop version of TT?

This is a 2026 Update on fixing The foreign Income Credit.   When you get to the "Review"- you should get an Error that says Unable to Electronically File your taxes- you would have to submit by "Paper". You should also see an error that says for Example- if your federal return is $20,000- It would say "The tax withheld of $20000as shown on For 1040 is greater than or equal to $0, the sum of income from the following source" - What this means is that you're reporting a "0" taxable income-as in their is no taxes to be reported on that's why you're getting the full amount back on your box w2  2a-  you need to create a taxable income, in order for it to tax you and submit E-File..   Also, if you goto Tax Tools -> Tools ->View Tax Summary- you shold see your federala nd oyur taxable income would be a $0- This is the issue that needs to be fixed.   Go to Wages & Income and find the Self-Employment section. Select Start or Review next to Self-employment income and expenses.   Tell us the type of self-employment work you do-ENTER THE WORK YOU DO. For example: Cook, Teacher, Accountant etc How do you classify this work?- Pick the middle option- "My side job income". Pick this I started in 2025- put the date 01/01/2025 Go through the questions, you should reach a section that says- Let's enter your 1099 Income- Pick "Other Self-employed income". Type- Electronic Payment- Enter $30,000. The key here is to make sure the amount you put in this box is higher than your Federal Return. THIS IS THE FIX. Once you're done- if you have any expenses like Vehicle, Meals 50%,Utilities and so on- go ahead and enter them.  Make sure to do your state taxes if needed and go back to your review and the problem is Fixed. You should be able to e-file.   Here are a few tips to keep in mind for next year’s filing: 1. When entering self-employment income, ensure the taxable income amount is higher than the refund to avoid e-filing errors. 2. Use the self-employment section to accurately report income and expenses, including partial meal deductions and vehicle mileage. 3. Keep your personal information, like your driver’s license address, updated before filing to prevent verification delays.

There is a way to make an adjustment on the Pennsylvania return to include this contribution in the PA taxable income.   As you go through your PA return, you come to a screen titled "Any other miscellaneous compensation" - click Yes.   On the next screen, you click your wife's name and under payer name, put "HSA Adjustment".  For the Type of Income, select "Other income not listed above".   On the next screen, you'll leave the Federal amount blank and enter the PA amount as $406.  for Income Description, you can enter "HSA Contribution not made in PA".   These actions will add this back as compensation for your wife on your PA return and it will later be deducted on the PA return, so that the net effect will be a zero HSA contribution made while in PA.  The HSA adjustment will get reported on PA-40 Gross Compensation Worksheet as an addition to income

Turbotax is telling me that the amount I entered from my 2024 tax filing is too high. I am getting the figure directly from line 6a on my return.

@sixbales   Firstly,  Windows 11 has been out for several years.  And you can't realistically stifle innovation by saying MSFT can never require new hardware for new products.   While I believe TT jumped the gun by pulling support for Win10, I don't see how they could be restricted from doing so.   I'm pretty sure they did it for their own convenience , and not because of any technical restrictions.     We considered jumping ship and voting with our pocketbooks .   but the missus didn't want to deal with any potential conversion issues so we succumbed to the inevitable and updated one of our laptops.      BTW you can still get WIN10 updates - my old laptop updated itself recently
