Yes, you need to carryover your 2024 capital loss over to 2025, even if it doesn't give you a tax benefit.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

Best alternative if you want to leave TurboTax next year AND AVOID THE TO MAIL YOUR RETUR If you want to switch because of the Form 7206 mess, these are the most realistic options: Option A — H&R Block Online or Desktop • Can import your PDF from TurboTax • Handles self‑employed returns well • More stable with IRS form updates • No proprietary lock‑in Option B — TaxAct Also imports PDFs Good for Schedule C and 1099‑NEC filers Less polished but reliable

You can change the email address associated with your account through your account settings.   Intuit uses a single sign in system for all Intuit products, so changing it here will also update it for any other Intuit products you use, such as QuickBooks or Credit Karma.   To Change Your Email Address: Select Intuit Account located in the lower-left corner of your screen (near the Sign Out button). On the Account Manager page, select the Sign in & security menu. Select the Email address section. Enter your new email address and then enter it again to confirm. Enter your current password when prompted to verify the change. Select Save. Check your new email inbox for a verification link from Intuit and click it to finalize the update. If you can't sign in at all, you can go to the Intuit Account Recovery page. This requires you to upload a photo of a government-issued ID to verify your identity.

I used Turbo tax (non desk top I believe) to complete my 2024 taxes and upload to IRS. I contacted, and spoke with a rep from Turbo Tax in 2024 ref: an email received stating my returns needed review.  The rep informed me there were no issues with my return, and my file needed to be upload unto IRS website. He informed me that it was presently being uploaded. Prior to ending the call, he informed me my file was uploaded to IRS and there were no more issues.  I showed a balance of Federal tax due for 2024.  Assuming that this amount due would be taken from my State refund. I went to IRS website this week, and discovered my tax files were not in their system.  I paid turbo tax their fee for this service, and now it looks like I have to pay again the resubmit my 2024 tax returns. I recently called your help line, only to be told to check if I accessed the correct account with correct account password.  I checked all my accounts, and IRS does not show anything, from any account. What do I do now?

If your return is currently in "Pending" status, you won't be able to make any changes until the IRS either accepts or rejects it.   If your return was rejected, you can sign in to your TurboTax account and click Fix my return to fix the mistakes.   If your return was accepted, ‌you will need to amend it.    Open the link below to see the instructions on how to amend your state return: How do I amend my state tax return?
@senhogan Then you should just go ahead and file the extension request.  You can put in $0 for the extension payment.  If for some reason that is rejected, then enter $1.

Turbo Tax is lying to all of us. You are Lying to all your loyal customers. The problem with the 7206 form can be solved if you file online. Turbo Tax will allow to file "your own" and only your "your own" tax return online if you paid for the desktop license. The license you paid when you bought your Home and Business License allows you for five e-fillings. The problem is that Turbo Tax treats the online products different than the desktop upload products. So you would be able to file for only one return via the online system. They just want you to spend money in paying another license. They can solve this problem very easy by giving you the licenses you need to file the return you have that include a Form 7206 via online. They don't want to do that they took the easy  and greedy way to solve this by just telling you that you need to do it by mail. PIECE OF CRAP THE TRUBO TAX.

It depends on  how long you held the asset when you report it as short-term or long-term.  If you had the asset for less than one year, you would report it as short-term.  If you had the asset for more than one year, it's long-term.   Refer to the TurboTax article A Guide to the Capital Gains Tax Rates: Short-term vs. Long-term Capital Gains Taxes for additional information.   As MinhT1 indicated earlier, if you didn't sell any of the shares, you don't report anything on your tax return.   You indicated that there is no option for how you received your investment.  How did you receive your investment?
So if her form 8889 has on line 13 $900 then that will be what we need to indicate that we are fixing this over payment from 2024?

This is creepy. My spouse is a naturalized citizen and I feel violated by this question. It's not just targeting hispanic last named people. it also seems to be targeting naturalized citizens. I am very upset. This is political, partisan and anti-American. It has only appeared since tRump has been in power.

Hello,   I just e-filed both returns yesterday and in looking through my AZ 140, I noticed line 29A only shows $2,500, when it should show $5,000.   My husband has a Federal pension. When entering his OPM CSA 1099R, I designated the pension as such on our federal return.   I have an Arizona State pension.  When entering my 1099R, I also designated the pension as such on our federal return.   Upon looking at our state return, Line 29a, it only shows $2,500, rather than $5,000 for us both to obtain our exclusions.  When I went back to the federal side, my husband’s taxable amount field was blank, and the exclusion was not listed.  I got out of the return and went back in and magically his taxable income appeared as well as the exclusion. When I went back to look at the state return, it now lists the correct $5,000 exclusion.   This is very irritating as now I have to amend my Arizona State tax return!!   QUESTIONS:   1. Why did TurboTax initially not catch the fact that this was designated as a Federal pension?   2. Why did it magically insert the figures upon opening the return again?   3. Since I just e-filed yesterday, when should I do the amended return?   4.  Will I be able to e-file my AZ amended return, or will I have to print everything out and mail it?   Thanks.

@senhogan If you are receiving a federal tax refund on the 2025 federal tax return there is no reason to file an extension.  You have up to three years to file the 2025 federal tax return with a refund.  It can filed at any time on or before April 15, 2029 without penalty. However, to e-file the federal tax return using TurboTax you would need to e-file the federal return on or before October 15, 2026.  After that date the 2025 return can only be printed and mailed.
If you did not file a 2024 tax return for your LLC, you need to file one now, not an amendment.
