Using Desktop 2025 Home and Business, I was entering 1099-R data. Box 1 asks for the gross distribution. Box 14 asks for state tax withheld. When I type in that amount, I get an error message saying that the amount of the state tax withheld cannot be more than the gross distribution amount. It is NOT, by about $9,000!  It appears that Box 14 cannot read Box 1. I called the Turbotax helpline; the lady was very nice, but couldn't figure out the problem. She had me waiting for someone else to join the call, and after15 minutes of that, I'd had enough. She did mention that others in this community were having the same problem. Hope they fix it soon.

Assuming that you are asking about New York State, the following link shows you where to find the document numbers:  NY License info .  TurboTax will only ask for the first three characters in the Document Number and specifies not to enter IDUSA, but the first three characters after that.  Some licenses just have Doc #: and you would just enter the first 3 characters after that.

Ahhh, I found where it asked about non-deductible contributions.   When you get out to the table of 1099-R forms, you click on the Done, and after a couple more disaster questions, you finally get the Q about non-deductible contributions to  IRAs.   The software probably waits until then to ask, because some folks have, and may take distributions from separate IRA accounts , and the nondeductible contributions calculation will apply to all of them.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.

Hello! I see this very problem addressed last year, but it appears to be happening again: I have deleted and resubmitted my 1099 – R several times, but it still appears to be triggering a request for a Canadian Institution name. Looks like this was a glitch last year. Anyone else having the same problems and do we know if there is a fix? I have tried everything.

@user17692003622 if the issue for you with online is the cost then just to let you know there is an offer this year to switch your desktop license to online premium version with Fed+State at no extra cost (check smallprint - details below).  The offer comes up when installing Turbo on Win 10.  Online is not the exact same functionality it does not have Forms mode and you can only prepare 1 return.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/download-products/end-support-windows-8-affect-turbotax-experience/L4v9atO3O_US_en_US   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/articles/community-news-announcements/turbotax-windows-10-desktop-software-end-of-life/05/3708302   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/marketing/ty25-ttd-direct-offer/L0aUgksJd_US_en_US

@tjmcd3    OK, I can get the same set of follow-ups...but ONLY if I failed to check the IRA/SIMPLE/SEP box ...i.e, a QCD can only come from one of those IRA types. ________________ IF it was from one of those IRA types, make sure you check that box.   Then when you get to the "Do any of these situations apply to you?"  page ...there is a much longer list of check boxes, and 2/3rds of the way down is a checkbox for "I transferred all or part of this money directly to a charity"  .... and proceeding from that page you'll be able to indicate how much  ......(after indicating all was an RMD....) ___________________ No, I don't know what happens with basis, I didn't see that part either.  But it wouldn't be needed unless you made non-deductible (after tax) contributions to that IRA     See below
There only seems to be an option for expenses paid to the school, with a note that other expenses would be added later, without actually allowing me to add them at any later point.
Ive completed my returns and I want a pdf for my records.

Question:   Any thoughts how to report "Misc Income" received from the reimbursement of Health Insurance Premium's from a Gov't agency that were originally paid through a payroll deduction in a Sec 125 Cafeteria Plan?   Assuming its taxable income plus since the original premium was paid through a Sec 125 so that FICA/Medicare are also due since they were not paid on the original deduction.

Just another follow up as today when I opened the app I now have 3 of 5.  This is BS and there should be a way to contact someone to verify to TurboTax that you are only using one device.  I forsee the day when it shows 5 of 5 and won't let me activate.  This has been the worst year ever for this product.
I did it again and got the same number of digits 1321391
