Did you already e-file? Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my return now?”  If you did that, you cannot do anything to fix it yet.  You have to wait for the email that tells you if your return was accepted or rejected.   Since the IRS will not begin to accept/reject returns until January 26, you are going to be waiting in “pending” for awhile.  Your return is sitting on a server, where you cannot fix  it or get it back.   You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.

Texas does not have a personal income tax, so leave boxes 14,15 and 16 blank (empty) on the Form 1099-R.

We’ve already sent 100s of screenshots! Nobody who was accepted before 1/21 received ANY emails after “the irs accepted your return”. Any. At all, none.  We are exhausted from repeating ourselves. Simply look at your social media. This is ridiculous and something your “specialized team” has already told us won’t resolve until after 1/26.  Which was directly shared with the attorney contacting FTC.
Thank you for clarifying! Do you have a turbotax contact for me which I can reach via Mail? Since I can't make a call and on the website I can online find a phone contact

Working on my 2025 taxes and realized I never filed a 2024 Form 8606. Facts: Only have 1 Trad IRA and 1 Roth IRA. Trad IRA had 0 basis at the end of 2023 On December 16, 2024, I contributed the full non-deductible amount ($8,000) to my Trad IRA My financial institution held the money because it came from a new bank account (I messed up on this, I know) and would allow me to convert to my Roth IRA until mid-January Received a dividend on Dec 31, 2024 to make my EOY 2024 balance $8,013 Completed the Roth conversion of $8,013 from tIRA to rIRA on January 13, 2025 Did complete a 2025 Roth conversion in July of 2025 Did not get a 2024 1099-R for my tIRA, did receive the 2024 5498 in May 2025 showing fair market value of $8,013 Using the other big software package which does not like calculating Roth conversions, it never included form 8606 when I filed my 2024 taxes Received my 2025 1099-R for my tIRA showing $16022 for my 2024 and 2025 conversions to rIRA End of 2025 basis for tIRA is 0 I recognize that I need to go back and submit a 2024 8606. My questions are: Is the $8k 2024EOY basis mean I owe taxes for 2024? If so, how does that get billed to me since filing a standalone 2024 8606 does not provide a means to pay? How do I record this in TurboTax online for 2025? Thanks!!

I am using 2025 Turbotax Deluxe, and am having an HSA problem. I keep losing my responses to my HSA eligible months. I enter that I am Family Plan eligible from Jan - Sept 2025, and Medicare or None from Oct - Dec 2025. But after closing and reopening TurboTax a few times, all of my monthly (Jan - Dec 2025) entries become Medicare or None. This doesn't happen every time I close and reopen TT, but does sometimes.

We filed amended return 12/2025 and owed a small sum back to IRS. We sent amended through TurboTax. Now, we get reject code FPYMT-071-01 and agent on support line said she was too busy with appointments to figure it out right now. This is horrible service. You are a company that files with a government agency and do not give any way to get answers. I need someone to contact me immediately to determine how to proceed before I file an official complaint against TurboTax for interfering with tax laws and submission.

I want to make sure we get this sorted out as quickly as possible. To help the specialized team I'm working with investigate this, I need to provide them with your order details (a screenshot works great!).   Additionally, please let me know if you’ve seen any updates in your inbox from TurboTax, Credit Karma, or WebBank. These details are the 'missing link' I need to get you a definitive answer.

The instructions for Form 941 say on page 5:   If Your Business Has Closed . . .    If you permanently go out of business or stop paying wages to your employees, you must file a final return. To tell the IRS that Form 941 for a particular quarter is your final return, check the box on line 17 and enter the final date you paid wages. Also attach a statement to your return showing the name of the person keeping the payroll records and the address where those records will be kept.

I see that Pennsylvania does not have an estate tax but does have an inheritance tax.    "Inheritance tax is imposed as a percentage of the value of a decedent's estate transferred to beneficiaries by will, heirs by intestacy and transferees by operation of law. The tax rate varies depending on the relationship of the heir to the decedent." The rates for Pennsylvania inheritance tax are as follows:   0 percent on transfers to a surviving spouse or to a parent from a child aged 21 or younger; 4.5 percent on transfers to direct descendants and lineal heirs; 12 percent on transfers to siblings; and 15 percent on transfers to other heirs, except charitable organizations, exempt institutions and government entities exempt from tax. Of course, I do not know what you saw in Community, but I imagine that this is what the letter from the state is referring to.

I have a question about reporting backdoor Roth IRA contributions in TurboTax and would appreciate step-by-step instructions. My traditional IRA balance was $0 as of December 31, 2023, and also $0 as of December 31, 2025. In December 2024, I made a non-deductible contribution to a traditional IRA for tax year 2024 and converted the entire amount to a Roth IRA shortly afterward, with no earnings or capital gains in the traditional IRA. The conversion occurred in 2025. In 2026, I made a non-deductible contribution to a traditional IRA for tax year 2025 and again converted the entire amount to a Roth IRA shortly afterward in 2026, with no earnings or capital gains in the traditional IRA. Can you please provide step-by-step instructions in TurboTax on how to correctly report these contributions and conversions for each tax year, including how Form 8606 should be completed for 2024, 2025, and 2026?

@Féline , thank you for your answers to my Qs. What is clear from your answers: (1) for 2024  tax year you were  NRA and should have used form 1040-NR for filing a return --- actual tax liability ( assuming that your only US income was from wages ) and refunds if any , would not be any different. (2) for 2025, again you are NRA, need to file using form 1040-NR  ( Please use an on-line service like SprinTax ).  You cannot use TurboTax ---- talk / chat with TurboTax customer service to get your monies back ( for  service that they cannot provide ).  TurboTax does not support the form 1040-NR Even if the IRS  did not catch the error in filing ( i.e. using 1040 instead of 1040-NR ), it is still wrongly filed. Is there more I can do for you?
