If you do click that somebody CAN claim you, you will then be asked if somebody WILL claim you. Just answering the second ("will") question no does not qualify you for the refundable portion of the American Opportunity question.
An unmarried, full time student, under age 24, is only eligible for the refundable portion of the American Opportunity Credit (AOTC) if he/she supports himself by working, regardless of dependent status. She cannot be supporting herself on student loans & grants and 529 plans and parental support. It is usually best if the parent claims that credit. If the student actually has a tax liability, there is a provision to allow him to claim a non-refundable tuition credit. But then the parent must forgo claiming the student as a dependent, and the $500 other dependent credit. This is worth up to $2500 (AOTC shifts to all non refundable)

I selected all worksheets from Print Center, but do not see a form 2210 penalty worksheet used to calculate the penalty for Federal tax underpayment. How can I review the penalty calculation?

I cannot import my broker's 1099's and I've tried every fix recommended. Every time I get a message that the 1099's aren't available yet. My broker is an Intuit partner and has confirmed that the 1099's are available for import. Different browsers don't have. Clearing cookies, turning off VPN/ad blockers, etc, doesn't help. I'm sure it's a TurboTax problem. How to I get someone to listen to me? I called TurboTax, waited 30 minutes for a human being and got an idiot who knew nothing about Macs and who eventually hung up on me. Help!!!

I took a picture of my W2 and the info was imported in. Box 12E's info was put where Box 12A's info is suppose to go and it won't let me change it. Is there a way to change?

That happens a lot, especially if you filed late or amended. Try using zero as your AGI and re-file.

What is "it" that showed a refund from the state? Does your state tax form show that you owe the state?
You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment. For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

As previously posted, Michigan FTE is NOT supported in any version of TurboTax for tax year 2025. Likewise, Forms 6072/6074 are not included in TurboTax. You will need to use this Michigan Treasury link to prepare the forms, then include them when you mail your Michigan state tax return.
Changes in Michigan tax law may explain why the TurboTax experience is different from prior years.

Well, I still have not gotten my refund, but I called Georgia today to see how they wanted to handle the fact that I was going to get a refund of $500, but now owe an additional $150 due to the SALT screwup. I needed to know if I needed to pay a full $650 assuming the refund was in process, or I could just send $150 additional and not get a refund. They said I actually was fine and did not need to pay anymore money and that the SALT problem did not apply to me (and that the refund was still processing). Not sure that is actually correct as TurboTax says I owe the additional money, but I told her to annotate my file that I called about this and what she told me and I am good with that (screw it, no-one knows what they are doing, so I will pay less money and see what happens).
