South Carolina generally conforms to federal tax law and uses federal taxable income as the starting point for state tax calculations. However, provisions within the "One, Big, Beautiful, Bill Act," enacted federally in mid-2025, were finalized after the South Carolina legislative session had concluded. Consequently, these changes have not yet been incorporated into state law.     Until the legislature votes to conform to this Act, specific federal deductions are not recognized by the state and must be added back to your taxable income.    This currently impacts your return in two ways: Itemized Deductions: Certain deductions allowed on your federal return (such as the additional SALT deduction) are currently disallowed under South Carolina law and must be added back. Standard Deduction: The increased standard deduction amounts passed in OBBBA must also be added back (that is the $750 you see when you switch to standard deduction.)   Taxpayers claiming deductions for overtime, tips, and the additional deduction for taxpayers over age 65 will also see add-backs for these amounts.   A comprehensive list of affected items can be found in this recent SC Information Letter.   It is currently unknown if or when the legislature will address conformity. Given this uncertainty, you have two options: File your federal return now and wait to file your South Carolina return until more information is available. File both returns now. Please be aware that if the state legislature passes conformity retroactively, you may need to file an amended state return. While there is a possibility that the South Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR) could automatically adjust returns filed prior to conformity, the timing and mechanics of such a resolution are currently unknown.

I'm Using turbo Tax, but it is not considering my nontaxable income in computing my state sales tax credit and that does not seem right to not include it because it is income that is expensed.

@user17700803803  wrote: Trying to file my taxes and I paid for deluxe last year and was accepted now I can’t find my documents and it’s saying it wasn’t filed but started  If you're sure the 2024 return was successfully efiled and accepted, then you likely have another account.  You may have "started" one in one account, but prepared, finished, and efiled in a different account.   You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:          Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

This is the second year in a row that this nonsensical watermark appears. I am DONE with Turbo Tax! Have used is for years and NEVER had this issue. I downloaded all forms... these suggestions are useless.  I was an IT pro and KNOW that this is caused by an identifiable issue that NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED! I want a refund of the $$ I paid for this trash software. I also want a proven way (software fix) to eliminate this watermark. It is annoying and not acceptable..

Yes, it is true that you will need to wait to file your return. The current tax year has introduced some strict informational requirements, specifically related to Qualified Manufacturer ID (QMID) numbers for some equipment, as well as statements related to joint occupancy property. Because of this, the IRS is currently rejecting certain returns with the Form 5695. The IRS is scheduled to begin accepting these returns on February 14, 2026. We recommend waiting until then to resubmit your return to avoid another rejection.   On February 14th, please try to resubmit your return.
