If the interest income has been entered correctly, the subtraction should be reported on the Hawaii state income tax return.   Hawaii does not tax interest on Federal obligations.  See the CCH here.   Hawaii excludes income that the United States Constitution prohibits it from taxing. ( Haw Rev Stat Sec. 235-7(a)(1) ; HAC No. 18-235-7-01 ) Therefore, the state does not tax interest on federal obligations, including United States Savings Bonds. Interest on federal obligations is subtracted from federal adjusted gross income in calculating Hawaii adjusted gross income.   In TurboTax, in the Hawaii state income tax return, check Hawaii form N-11 Subtractions Worksheet line a to see whether the Federal interest has been subtracted.   In addition, on the Hawaii form N-11, see lines 18 and 19 for Subtractions.

Thank you for your response and help.  There was a potential mistake on my file, cause a potential $5000 tax overpay.  I asked questions on the portal, but no response after 5 hours.  I asked her to cancel the full service, and again no response.  Can you help cancel the Full service, or, can you assign someone (or ask the current expert) that I can talk to when I have issues, without waiting for 5 hours, or days?   Thank you again!
I already acknowledged that I attended to the RMD in the income section when asked, but was not given the opportunity to clarify that I gave it to charity.
Unfortunately an amended return takes 3-4 months to process and there’s no way to speed it up. Form 9100 doesn’t apply to your situation.

Form 1040X has been available for quite awhile, so not sure why you are not able to find it.   But...do not try to amend until your original return has been fully processed. Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)     See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return -   CURRENT YEAR https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk     Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.     You can watch for information here: https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

You only need the file ending in .tax2024 to transfer into 2025.   On the old computer, Your tax files end in .tax or .tax2022 or .tax2023 or .tax2024 etc.  They should be in your Documents in a Turbo Tax folder.  You should also have the pdf files of each year.  Or search your computer for all files ending in .tax.  Also if you haven't done it,  I would open each year in the program and save it as a PDF file, go to File-Save to PDF so you don't need the program installed to view or print your return in the future like to get a mortgage or loan, etc. If you use OneDrive or something first move the files to your local Documents folder.   What I would do is just copy the whole Turbo Tax folder that is under your Documents.  That should be where the .tax files and pdf files are stored.  Copy that folder to a flash drive or best yet is to burn it to a CD or DVD and then you will have a backup of them.   Then on the new computer copy the folder (or files) from the flash drive to your Documents folder.   The programs need to be installed from the CD or download them again.  You don't need to install them unless you need to amend or open a return.  They only support the last 3 years so you might not be able to update older years or download any state programs you need.   Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).  And the download will always be up to date with all the updates.

Hello, I think there's a chance you are referring to something different because Form 1040 is included in the filling and Form 1040 in 2025 has new boxes that did not exist in previous years. You mention box 5, not sure what that is.    Here's an example of what TurboTax is producing in the preview of  Form 1040 Income 5a Pensions and annuities . . . . [ 5a [   1,000. ]      b Taxable amount  .  .   .   .   .   .   [5b [         0.] c Check if (see instructions)   . . .  1 [_] Rollover         2 [_] PSO      3 [_]  _______   The box 1 Rollover in Line 5c is what I believe should be checked.  If I understand correctly, you confirm that an In-Plan ROTH Conversion should have Rollover checked, right?   Could you please clarify your directions - Are you saying that instead of 1000 I should enter 999 ?   Is there a way to manually change Form 1040 to check the box?   Thanks

IRS rules strictly require you to first take your total RMD from your Traditional IRAs before you can convert any remaining funds to a Roth IRA. If you convert before taking the total RMD, the converted amount may be considered an excess contribution, resulting in a 6% penalty.   TurboTax is asking for your total IRA value because you reported a Roth conversion. If you have basis in any of your IRAs, the IRS requires that you convert a proportional mix of pre-tax and after-tax funds. In order to calculate this percentage, you must answer the questions. Without those values, your Form 8606 will be incomplete and the IRS may reject the return, or tax the entire conversion as if you had no basis.   To get through the interview prompts without answering those questions, report the 1099-R distribution as a 100% distribution. If you only took a partial RMD, do not label it as a conversion in the follow-up. Instead, when you reach, "How much of this distribution applied to your December 31, 2025 RMD?", select "Some of the distribution applied...", then enter the amount that applied and Continue.   Since it is your first year and you have a "grace period" until April 1, 2026, take the remainder of your RMD by the deadline to avoid the penalty on your 2025 tax return.

Alright, I went to Top right corner and clicked Forms.  Reviewed the1040-X and found serious issues in data transfer from Original return section Column A. I edited manually all to match with original numbers from 2024 year return. Now Meter shows $0. Now, I came back to income section and removed 8814. Now TT is coming right with the Returns I expected. TaxAudit person and TT Experts I talked on the phone also expected the return based on the situation.   Turbotax team this is serious BUG and caused me many hours of working and worried. Please spend some extra time in testing Amend section.

I have the same question/issue.  When I e-filed, I gave my credit card info to pay the IRS the amount I owe.  When I look at the Filing Instructions page of the PDF, it confirms the intent to pay with credit card, but does not say on what date the credit card will be run.  How can I find that information?

Based on current federal guidance, tips that are received by a budtender at a marijuana dispensary in Michigan are not currently considered qualified tips for the new federal "no tax on tips" deduction.   Although Michigan has legalized the sale of marijuana, it is still illegal at the federal level. This prohibits the workers in this industry from taking advantage of the new "no tax on tips" deduction.   Budtenders are not currently on the IRS-approved list of occupations for this deduction.   Since the state of Michigan adheres to the federal guidelines for reporting and withholding on compensation, tips will be considered as taxable income for the state of Michigan as well.

how did you file your return e-file or mailed? Effective since 9/2025, the IRS was only supposed to do direct deposits, even if you left the DD info blank. Then the IRS would send you a notice asking to establish an account where a DD could be made.  If you mailed your return, it could be sitting in a mailbag at the IRS or it could have gotten lost in the mail.

If you imported the form, delete it and type it in manually. Boxes 5 and 11 combine to equal zero taxable income. The program does want to double check that is right. It is also checking for state adjustments - which should not be -for zero taxable income. Be sure you don't have multiple states selected for no income.   If you typed it in manually, you need to: Online version: Delete the form, see How to Delete   Log out of your return and try one or more of the following: Don't use Internet Explorer. Clear cache and cookies, Sign in using a different browser. Sign in using a different device. Log back into your return. Enter the information again.  Desktop version:  Delete the form Save your return while closing the program. Update the program Open Enter the information again.
