A new, temporary additional deduction of $6,000 for those aged 65 and older (or $12,000 for a married couple if both qualify) is available for tax years 2025 through 2028. The deduction begins to phase out at income greater than $75,000 and $150,000 if you’re married filing jointly. This is in addition to the standard deduction or itemized deductions.    The senior deduction is automatically calculated by TurboTax based on the dates of birth you entered for each spouse.   The senior additional deduction appears on line 37 of Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, with that amount flowing to line 13b of your form 1040.   In TurboTax Online, you can only view Schedule 1-A after registering and paying the TurboTax fee.   But you can preview your form 1040 and check line 13b of your form 1040 which includes the senior deduction among other deductions if applicable, such as the tip deduction, the overtime or the car loan interest deduction.   to preview your form 1040 in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:   Open your return In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools On the Tools Center page, click on View Tax Summary In the left-hand column, click on Preview my 1040 Your form 1040 will display. Scroll down to line 13b   and you should see the amount of this deduction included in this line.
I purchased TurboTax Premier 2025 at Costco. I downloaded and executed the installation app. It stopped and said. "Ran into a problem and had to close".

I've verified that the calculations are correct, and that in fact, the tax on the next dollar is 12%, however, my concern was whether that number might be used as the kiddie tax to be applied to another return, it would be nice to have a way to raise the issue to INTUIT as well.

It depends. Box 5 of the 1098-T and box 1 of the w2 may or may not be related.    The w2 should show the amount earned as a teacher's assistant.  The 1098-T should have the amount awarded for tuition and living expenses working on the PhD.   It is very rare to see the scholarship money reported on the w2 but it can happen. You will need to double check by looking at the final pay stub for 2025. If the final pay is close to box 1 on the w2, it is just earned income.   The w2 is  entered as normal  If the 1098-T is correct, you will enter it.  If the 1098-T is incorrect and the scholarship is included in the wages, then skip the scholarship entry and leave it blank. Make good notes for your tax file in case the IRS asks. @Personface6870

Your experience has been forwarded to our TurboTax developers and they are working on a resolution. Thank you for bringing to our attention.   Here's additional information regarding 529 Plan distributions.   The 529 distribution (reported on Form 1099-Q) Form 1099-Q only needs to be reported on the tax return of the person whose SSN is on the form if the withdrawal is more than the tuition paid in Box 1 of the 1098-T plus other adjusted qualified educational expenses. In that case, the earnings on the excess distribution would be taxable income.   First, determine if the Form 1099-Q needs to be reported on the tax return by comparing the withdrawal with the tuition paid on the 1098-T added to other qualified educational expenses. To find out what are qualified educational expenses, review the IRS Tax benefits for education: Information center. Refer to the TurboTax articles Guide to IRS Form 1099-Q: Payments from Qualified Education Programs and What is IRS Form 1099-Q? for further details.   Secondly, enter the 1099-Q if the withdrawal exceeds the educational expenses by following the directions in the TurboTax Help article Where do I enter a 1099-Q?   When the student's school expenses are paid with these funds, you can't claim a tuition deduction  or either of the educational tax credits for the same expense.
Even when adding Medicare of $2200 and my monthly payments to a health insurance company, they don't add up.
if your overtime pay is included in box 1 of the W-2 or is in box 14, then after you have completed entry of the W-2, on the following screen check the Overtime box and continue.
