Did you use these steps? You have to get the Fidelity discount by starting on this page. If you are not already logged into Fidelity it will give you a log in box. https://www.fidelity.com/accounts-trade/turbotax-discount That will give you the page for Online Turbo Tax. To get the Desktop program….. Click the green Start filing with TurboTax and save 25% button (or whatever percent you get) It brings up the Fidelity Save 25% Get Started page Leave that page and tab open Then in another browser tab go to the Turbo Tax Desktop page here https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download It worked for this user. I just posted on this one and asked how he got it activated. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/is-this-2025-online-premier-version-the-worst-product-ever-produced-by-intuit-since-the-80-s-no-way/00/3722684

I feel tricked and lied to by Turbo Tax with this program. Last year the IRS deposited my refund directly to my bank account . Now it will go to their bank first, then on to mine so they can withdraw the $35. When I realized that would happen I went back and tried to undo it but it appears the only two options is to have it deposited to credit karma or to their bank first. Very confusing, and I'm sure it was made that way so people like me eventually give up and just go on with it. I would be interested in hearing from a Turbo Tax employee or someone familiar with the program. What did I miss? Why couldn't I go back and remove that choice and just have the IRS send it directly to me? I'm angry and unlikely to use the service again even though I have used them for about 10 years.

@happyras Glad you got it working. But can you tell me if you got the 16 digit License Code to activate the program and how you got the License Code?

I feel like the refund advance is being falsely offered and advertised this yr to get people to use this program and once you done all the work and get to the end it’s not offering it at all only the 5 day early Credit Karma option. I am not new here used Turbo Tax last 3 yrs to file and have had it deposited into my active Credit Karma checking acct every single time (which I opened1st yr I filed to get the advance) and have to this day bc my pay check and all go there. I was not offered the advance this yr despite being a repeat customer and having an established and active Credit Karma acct. I assumed it was bc maybe my refund was not enough despite it was well over the minimum $500 that is advertised to get the advance so my sister who also uses turbo tax to get the advance who has a child and all applied and her refund was almost $7,000 and she was also not offered the advance (despite being a returning customer and having established Credit Karma acct) but once we were done with it all which took a good 1-2 hrs I wasn’t starting over somewhere else. But my 3rd sis who has used Turbo tax has 3 kids was getting almost $9,000 in a refund and being a returning customer with an established Credit Karma account was also not offered the refund advance, but she didn’t go ahead and file. She deleted hers went to Jackson Hewitt and got $3500 advance within 10 minutes. There’s no way three separate people getting three totally different refunds that are returning customers with established credit karma accounts and not one of us was offered the advance?? There is no way. Then I see people that are NEW customers that are being offered the advance and being told they are “pre-approved” but a final decision won’t be made until AFTER they completely file and then they’re being denied once they go ahead and file. But yet we ARE ALL getting charged the $89 to file bc it’s free to calculate but it’s no longer free to actually file. This will be my last year using TurboTax and it will be my sister sisters as well. We will be following our baby sister and go into another place that when they offer the advance they actually give it and it’s not maybe or pre approved then denied once it’s to late to change.

The form is available via the IRS currently. The instructions in PDF to use said form are pending on the IRS's website per the owns IRS service. There's no claimed detail tho that this form can't be filed until Feb 1st in the non-PDF instructions. https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i5695 And these instructions have 2025 written all over them. The same thing happened in 2023, and in 2024. It

I am not an expert. However I think I saw somewhere that the senior credit for a single taxpayer has an income limit of $75,000 and married couple of $150,000.

You were sent to the Credit Karma portal because, if approved, the refund advance is deposited in your Credit Karma checking account.
You can apply for a Refund Advance, with the loan amount based on the size of your federal refund.
If approved, you will typically receive your Refund Advance into your Credit Karma MoneyTM checking account within 15 minutes of the IRS accepting your e-filed return.

Yes, here are the answers to your questions:
Furniture, health insurance, and transportation are never QHEE for 529 purposes, even if they are in the school's "Official Cost of Attendance"(COA). These are non-qualified distributions, thus earnings are taxable income
Yes, by making the scholarship taxable, you avoid "double-dipping" rules, which saves $2,000 of your Tuition/Fees to be "covered" by the 529 plan instead.
Please reach back if you have further questions.

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, in FORMS you can type her info directly on Form 1095-A as the 'covered individual' with her SSN and birthdate.
When TurboTax asks for 'this policy belongs to' in the interview, you can leave that unselected for your mom's policy. The IRS uses the Marketplace Identifier to match the policy to the person. It won't impact your return, since she is your dependent.
