Some information online would say that there is almost no scenario where cruises are tax deductible because they are easily seen as a personal trip in that they include entertainment, etc.  The IRS documentation is very confusing on this topic of cruises.  If you are a travel agent and your clients rely on first hand travel knowledge of your cruise research it seems like that should qualify, but I have seen conflicting guidance.  Can you elaborate on how you document your cruise as a necessary business expense?

You can try choosing the answer that he did not file a 2024 return; if that or "zero" do not work, then he needs to print, sign and date the return in ink, and file it by mail.   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Good afternoon. I input 0 for my son's 2024 AGI (because he didn't have to file last year) and we are still getting a reject error. Please advise. Thank you  Sandra Schleicher

The IRS doesn't accept your state taxes, only your federal taxes.   For status updates, you can use the IRS tool Where's my Refund? You can also, contact the IRS for individual returns at 800-829-1040.     For additional information, refer to the TurboTax articles: What if my federal refund is taking longer than 21 days? and Where's My Tax Refund? The IRS Refund Timetable Explained for additional information   You can refer to the TurboTax article How do I track my state refund? to find out more information regarding your refund after you e-file and your state tax return is accepted.   If you requested a paper check, the IRS is phasing out paper checks, and you will receive an IRS Notice CP53E informing you that your refund is frozen because of missing direct deposit information. If you don’t have a bank account, you can choose to enter a prepaid card that has a routing number and account number associated with it.    If you don’t respond to the notice, the IRS will issue a paper check after six weeks.   Refer to the IRS FAQ Understanding your CP53E notice for more information.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS/State releases your refund.    The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.   Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others?
