I submitted my taxes yesterday evening and never got the text that the forms were rejected due to my PIN #.  Notification was via email after 8pm, when I was asleep.  I submitted my forms right around 6pm. I entered 15108 and it never asked for the correction this evening when I corrected my error highlighted - the adjusted gross income from 2024.  Is this going to reject my tax forms again this evening after I fall asleep?   Are you able to assist and email me the PIN # I used in 2024?  I think it may have been 11179.
Unfortunately, I've already tried all of that both yesterday and today and it has not worked.

My Federal return was rejected because of a missing IP Pin. I corrected using TurboTax's step-by-step approach and the Pin shows up when I look at the info worksheet. using Forms    The problem I'm facing is that when I try to transmit the correct filing Turbotax tells me my return wasn't transmitted because it is identical to the 1st return with the missing IP Pin.   So far, Customer Service has not been able to suggest a solution.
It won't let me because the program is still on my computer (in the background) since it was installed in an earlier windows product.

I assume this must not be for 2025, because the requirements for when to issue a 1099-K for 2025 probably wouldn't have been met in this situation.   And to qualify for the Augusta rule to not have to report that income, it would have to be a property that is mostly for personal use normally, such as a second home or vacation home or your primary residence.      The IRS computers are going to be looking for some kind of reported income to match the 1099-K reported income.  One way you can do that is enter the income shown on the 1099-K as rental income, but then add an "other" expense to the rental property with an amount equal to the rent income amount and name the expense something like "280A(g) Exception" or something else along those lines that references the 280A(g) tax law.  Make sure that the net income on the Schedule E end up as $0 (no depreciation, etc, and enter 0 personal use days, and the correct number of rental days).

Being a full time student, not having any income, and you paying everything doesn't satisfy all the dependent rules.    There are two types of dependents, "Qualifying Children"(QC) and Other ("Qualifying Relative" in IRS parlance even though they don't have to actually be related). There is no income limit for a QC but there is an age limit, student status, a relationship test and residence test. The support test is different for each type. The support test, for a QC, is only that the child didn't provide more than half his own support. The support test for a Qualifying Relative is that the taxpayer provided more than half the relative's support   A child of a taxpayer can still be a “Qualifying Child” (QC) dependent, regardless of his/her income, if: He is under age 19, or under 24 if a full time student for at least 5 months of the year, or is totally & permanently disabled He did not provide more than 1/2 his own support. Scholarships are excluded from the support calculation He lived with the parent (including temporary absences such as away at school) for more than half the year.  You can't claim him as a dependent, if he lives with the other parent(or lived with the other parent before going away to school).  A person can still be a Qualifying relative dependent, if not a Qualifying Child, if he meets the 6 tests for claiming a dependent: Closely Related OR live with the taxpayer ALL year His/her gross taxable income for the year must be less than $5200 (2025)  The taxpayer must have provided more than 1/2 his support In either case: He must be a US citizen or resident of the US, Canada or Mexico He must not file a joint return with his spouse or be claiming a dependent of his own He must not be the qualifying child of another taxpayer See full dependent rules at: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/tax-tips/Family/Rules-for-Claiming-a-Dependent-on-Your-Tax-Return/INF12139.html

Since today is April 16, 2026, the official deadline to request an extension for your 2025 federal tax return (which was April 15, 2026) has passed.   The IRS recommends filing your return as soon as possible to stop penalties and interest from accruing.   Taxpayers serving in a combat zone or qualified hazardous duty areas, living outside of the United States, or affected by certain disaster situations may be eligible for additional time to file and pay. They should check their eligibility before the tax filing deadline.   People who can’t pay the full balance owed by April 15 should still pay what they can and apply for a payment plan, also called an installment agreement or online payment agreement. Most applicants receive immediate notification of approval or denial, without having to call or write to the IRS.   How do I file an IRS tax extension?   See all options for filing an extension here.   State Extensions

To all: I wrote a note yesterday to the forum leader asking him to confirm if developers are aware of this problem of "disappearing tax files after updates," and gave a link to this thread.  Over the years that I've been a volunteer in the forum, this used to be relatively rare, but this year it appears to have become more common.   I don't know if it occurs equally with Windows and Mac users, or if it's more common with one than the other.  In any case, he assured me he would check with the developers.   It might be helpful when anyone posts this issue if they specify if they are running Windows or Mac OS.    Thanks!

Thank you for this information.  It came too late to benefit me sadly. I had also at the same time reached out to my investment advisor at Edward Jones and whom I have yet to hear from.  This forced me to mail both my federal and state returns instead of using e-file.  Not a good customer experience across the board.  Super unhappy that TurboTax has ZERO customer service unless you pay $60.

Thanks again. I have retail purchased version, that wasn't able to install on my windows 10 machine, so I started doing taxes on online, activated with my key.   I have another laptop with Windows 11, that I want to cut over to the desktop version.   Anyways,  I am not able to see the option in Tax Tools to add another state.  The reply to message I don't the see option of attaching a screen shot, otherwise would have attached it.  Thanks again.
