You and your family member should agree on what percentage of the Second Lowest Cost Silver Plan (SLCSP) you’ll claim on your return, and what percentage they'll claim on theirs. You can use any percent you choose from 0% to 100%, as long as you agree and it all adds up to 100%.
To find the SLCSP, look on Part III, Column B of your Form 1095-A. If it's blank or $0, go to the HealthCare.gov Tax Tool. You’ll enter your ZIP code, the ages of everyone on the plan, and the months they were covered to generate the correct SLCSP for each month.
Here is an article that may be helpful for you: I'm on my parents' 1095-A form. What do I do on my return?

Is TurboTax working on a fix for the error message regarding Form 541 Sch B Line 15 Income Distribution deduction? When line 13 is negative number, Turbo tax is incorrectly showing an error for line 15. The 1041 form has the same data for lines 13-15 but no error message comes up. Thanks

Similar to @RogerD1 above, I compute a $200 credit for child and dependent care expenses in TurboTax Desktop Premier. I included a 1065 K-1 and W-2 wage numbers similar to @RogerD1 above.
In my example, the 1065 K-1 loss does not affect line 18 earned income but that may be because the loss was credited to the other spouse. The reason may be because of how the 1065 K-1 was entered on this end versus how the 1065 K-1 was entered at your end.

You can try $1, but Column B can't have zeros for any month there is an amount in Column A.
For any month you have an amount in column A, you have to have a positive amount in column B, and any amount (including $0) in column C. If there is no amount (or $0) in column A, leave all columns blank for that line.

is the little box checked near Box 7? if no, there is no RMD. it's just a pension. if yes, call the Administrator, they can tell you what the RMD was for 2025.

How in the world do I enter 1040-ES payments I made in 2025 for tax year 2025?!?!?!?! I've read all the board questions, but that option appears nowhere. I am using TurboTax online.

For a pension, it's whatever they send you. Say all of it is the RMD. If you have a RMD requirement it will ask you if it is the RMD. Say yes and enter the amount from box 1 as the RMD amount. The pension doesn't need to calculate any RMD. Anything your pension pays you is considered to be the RMD. Traditional pensions automatically fulfill the rules of an RMD. So just enter the same amount in box 1 for the RMD for each 1099R.

You can choose business code 611000 (Educational services), which also includes educational support services for your income for work in your teachers union. If you provide a different type of service for the teachers union, you can use code 999000 (Unclassified establishments) instead. To enter your Form 1099-NEC in TurboTax, do the following: Go to Income Scroll down to Self-Employment (Schedule C, 1099-NEC...expenses) and click Start Add the line of work, then Continue Select one of the three options on the, "How do you classify this work?" screen Continue answering the questions about the line of work until you reach the, "Your_info" screen Review your entries, then select, "Looks good" at the bottom of the screen Next, you will reach, "Let's enter the income for your _ work", select the first option, "Form 1099-NEC, for nonemployee compensation" Next, enter the information from the Form 1099-NEC you received, then Continue You will then be able to add any expenses which you incurred during this line of work

I tried using the method posted by CatinaT1 to try to amend my Missouri returns for 2022 and 2023. I do not want to amend the federal forms because the error I am trying to correct was in overlooking a state-specific deduction of insurance premiums. As soon as I clicked that I wanted to amend my Missouri returns but *before* I changed any numbers anywhere, the Missouri payment/refund value decreased to zero (as expected) but in the very same instant the federal ones increased from 0 to showing taxes due. For 2023, it was less than $5, for 2022 it was much more. For both years, the software automatically filled out a Federal 1040X with "corrections", which I am expected to file along with the Missouri amendments. For both years, the federal 1040X forms show various incorrect (too low) income numbers as the original values and then "corrects" them to equal the amounts that were on my forms in the first place. Likewise, it shows that I paid too little tax (less than my forms actually show), a "corrected" amount (what I actually paid in the first place), and a difference supposedly owed now. What might be going on here, and what can I do about it? It seems clear that the 1040-X values are wrong, as they don't match what I can clearly see on my saved pdf copies of the returns. But sending in the Missouri forms requires that I also send them the federal 1040-X, so I'm stuck. Thanks for any advice anyone can provide!
