I had already filed my Federal and Idaho State Returns.  I received an email that my Federal Refund was deposited in my bank.  I went back to TurboTax to ensure the amount was correct.  It was then that TurboTax did and Update.  While my Federal Return was correct.  My Idaho State Tax Due was significantly less than I had paid previously.  It appears that Idaho had not taken account the Big Beautiful Bill and it changed my Amount Due.  Turbotax asked if I need to amend my return.  I have gone through the walk through, and it appears that I can amend my return to get a refund of the difference.  Before I send it off, I want to make sure that is correct.   Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm not sure what to do.....Thanks!

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

Right, it does ask me for information. When I get to the screen asking: Improvements or replacements installed for enabling property. It gives me the option for Windows and skylights, which is the only item that I have checked, because it does not give me an option for insulation (which is another energy credit), the program only gives me a place for entering information about panels, subpanels, branch circuits, or feeders. If I select continue, the program goes to the next screen asking about Condos and Co-Ops
Ask your employer, but with some employers, they will issue separate w-2s if you work in different divisions or locations and especially if you worked in different states.

If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2026.      If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.    https://www.irs.gov/payments   https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-can-i-pay-my-federal-taxes/00/26212     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-do-i-pay-my-irs-tax-due-with-a-check-or-money-order/00/26403      To apply for a payment plan with the IRS   Apply Online for a Payment Plan     You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   WHAT IF I CANNOT PAY MY TAX DUE? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-payments/pay-taxes/L8aQBCpPO_US_en_US?uid=m9iryksw

Resolution for missing car loan interest deduction. If it doesn't appear, you might need to update your income section first, as the software sometimes hides this if your income is over the phase-out limit (starts at $100k for single, $200k for joint).  So remove some income first, then type "car loan interest" in the Search bar at the top right and click the "Jump to car loan interest" link. After entering the necessary information, re add income

you can use the home sale worksheet. you do not qualify for the home ale exclusion. Depreciation is subject to recapture. Improvements will add to your basis.  This assumes you no longer have schedule E for the property, which can also handle the sale and at least some versions of TurboTax have Form 4797 stand-alone, which will also work.

I was a full year resident of Missouri in 2025, but earned all my income working in Arkansas.  The Missouri state Turbo Tax program is NOT acknowledging state income tax paid to Arkansas (APPORTIONED TAX LIABILITY).  The program is calculating tax liability in Missouri as if I earned all the income in Missouri.  I followed the instructions and populated the 2025 AR1000NR first before working on Missouri state edition. The program is not correctly populating form MO-CR (Row 11).  I looked back at my 2024 state returns (completed using Turbo Tax) and did not have an issue.  How can this be corrected?

@edandmary58 If you are referring to box 16, state distribution, on the Form 1099-R...If the box 16 is blank and there is an amount of taxes withheld in box 14, then enter the amount from box 1 into box 16.  This will allow you to e-file your tax return.  The amount from box 16 does NOT flow to the state tax return.
Filling out schedule A won't cause any issues.  There is no information entered to change the tax return if you have removed the carryover from the W2.

If you don't have a household employee, then you don't need the Schedule H. If so then you can delete it as follows:   1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return 2. Choose Tools 3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links  4. Find the Schedule H in the list and delete it   One reason TurboTax does not allow e-file of the Missouri return if you have one of the miscellaneous credits such as you mention is that the program does not support the schedules necessary to apply for the credit. So, you have to mail them in with your tax return. I don't know specifically why they are not included in the program, but I imagine it has to do with the  high number of credits available and the difficulty it would be to include separate routines for all of them in TurboTax. It is also entirely possible that the Missouri Department of Revenue can't process them electronically also due to the high number of schedules available.

@MarilynG1 My question is how to make the negative adjustment while filing my income tax return ? My W2 contains WA PFML benefits (both employee+employer attributed contributions) so need to make negative adjustment to gross income to exclude employee paid/attributed benefits which are not taxable.
The desktop version has more features than the online version. Sometimes the desktop version is the only solution, as in your case.

@DonC6306 What do you mean TurboTax does not have that option?   After selecting Home Energy Credits, you go through several screens asking about your home and what type of energy efficient product you purchased and installed on your home. On the screen labeled  Tell us how much you paid for the energy-efficient improvements, you enter the amount paid for windows under the section Exterior windows (including skylights)
