it's already working at least for my FI. I just imported my 1099-R. However, it took 2 attempts. The first one failed because when I went back to TurboTax, I saw the FI's name and amount listed, but when I went to the form, there was nothing. Tried again, but this time, when I saw the FI and amount, I scrolled down. There was an additional step I didn't see the first time. That was to click on the blue icon "IMPORT NOW". That worked. So I'm wondering if many of the import problems reported are because users are missing this step if present. My screen did not show this icon until I scrolled down, so it's easy to miss.
i went back and then imported the 1099B and1099div again, nothing until that import now step

OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 TT: Home & Business 2025 (Module: WinPerRelease, Version:025...000...0247) Greetings, Working the 1040/1040SR Form and brought up the Standard Deduction Worksheet but only the "Dependent" part is showing up. The second part for "over 65" and/or "blind" is missing. Per Form 1040/1040SR Instructions (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf), Page 34/35, Line 12e, Exception 4—Born before January 2, 1961, or blind. Line 12d; there are TWO worksheets. One for Standard Deduction Worksheet for Dependents and the other for Standard Deduction Chart for People Who Were Born Before January 2, 1961, or Were Blind. When you use the OPEN FORM icon (near top left), enter "Standard Ded" into the Search field, then click on the ONLY 1040 find "Standard Deduction Wks" ... the Dependent worksheet appears but not the Over 65/Blind. The latter is the form that helps you determine if your Standard Deduction can get a boost from $15750 to either $17750 (over 65 or blind) or $19750 (over 65 and blind). OK, thanks. Do I also need to do something for CO? That is, shouldn't the income that was reported to AZ somehow be reported to CO?

All I created a simple HTML/JS App utility for dealing with this issue. It works fine to take care of the Taxes without manual tedium. I do not know the Pros and Cons of adding and/or Sharing the code here. Since I do not see file attachment, I am giving a safe drop box link from where you can download the file, save and open it in chrome browser (that is what I use so it is best to use at least when you start). Read the DISCLOSURES and HELP Guide and run the Simulated Project for Comfort!! Before you actually start using Tax Data from Fidelity. https://tinyurl.com/y346mbd4 Enjoy. This App will not fill the data in Turbo Tax but will create the IRS admissible formatted summary and tables you can attach to Turbo Tax and for filing. Please post any issues, comments and feedback here so everyone can see it and I will do my best to respond to them asap. Sri.

I have a standard 15-year mortgage secured by my primary home. I took out the mortgage to do repairs on my summer home, which was in too rough shape to qualify for a mortgage. Last year Turbo Tax asked me, as part of the Home Mortgage worksheet, how much of the loan was used for repairs/upgrades to my main home. I said none, so I didn’t qualify for the deduction. This year it didn’t ask the question, and automatically assumed that I qualified for the deduction. I found the relevant form, saw a box that should’ve been checked, checked it, then went back to Easy Step. It changed the amount of my refund, but there are still mistakes on the forms. It still shows a mortgage allowance on Schedule A, which I can only see by clicking on it directly. It didn’t print out when I asked to print everything. I think there must be a glitch somewhere and I would like to get it resolved before exiling. Turbo Tax ran an error check and thinks everything is fine, but it clearly isn’t. Any thoughts?

Thank you. I went back into Turbotax and was able to get the Form 8606 to generate. For 2024, I believe that I have to file Form 1040-X, leave lines 1-23 blank, since my tax liability has not changed, and attach Form 8086 for 2024, noting that it was omitted from my 2024 return. Is that correct? Thanks again.

Hello, I did a rollover from a traditional retirement account with my previous employer to a rollover IRA with Vanguard (1st 1099-R), then I converted that amount from the rollover IRA to a Roth IRA (2nd 1099-R). When I do the tax return, it tells me to do two separate ones. I clicked on "No" to the question "Did you move the money to a Roth IRA?" for the rollover (since the rollover account is a traditional one) and on "I converted some or all of it to a Roth IRA" for the conversion to differentiate them . But for the total amount, it adds both 1099-R making it double the amount. Am I doing this right?

Did you ever figure this out? I have to amend 4 previous tax returns due to TT missing the pro rata rules for my SIMPLE year end balances in combination with back door roths. We just found out about this and TurboTax does not seem to work with this scenario. I have tried all the "work arounds" including force overriding lines 5-18 on Form 8606 (which is possible, however, it's not putting the new taxable amount from line 18 onto Line 4b on the 1040 to increase my tax liability). So, in trying to force override line 4b on the 1040 to complete my amendment, TT says it doesn't allow this and that it must come from the Form 8606. Its literally the last step I need to take to amend my return and pay the tax owed. :(

The deduction for tips is working in TurboTax. If you are using the TurboTax Desktop software, make sure your software has the latest updates.
I assume you are referring to boxes 1, 7, and 14 on your W-2. Are you saying that your tips are included in the total wages in box 1, but are not shown in box 7? If that's the case, the W-2 is not filled out correctly. You should first try to get a corrected W-2 from the employer.
If the employer refuses to correct the W-2 you will have to include a Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return. When you enter the W-2 in TurboTax, enter the correct information instead of what's on the W-2 from the employer. That means you will subtract the amount of tips from box 3 (not from box 1) and enter the amount of tips in box 7.
After you enter the W-2 information, you will get a screen that says "Let's check for uncommon situations." Check the box for "Didn't get a W-2" (even though that's not your situation) and click Continue. The next screen asks if you want to complete a substitute W-2. Select Yes. Proceed through the screens, entering the requested information to complete Form 4852. It will ask you to enter explanations of what you did to try to get a correct W-2 from your employer, and how you calculated the amounts that you entered. (The prompts on the TurboTax screens assume that you didn't get a W-2 at all, but that's not what the actual Form 4852 says. The form says to explain your efforts to obtain an original or corrected Form W-2, and how you determined the amounts that you entered.) TurboTax will include the Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return.
After you complete the substitute W-2 TurboTax will ask you questions to determine if you are eligible for the deduction for tips.
You should not enter the tips as unreported tips. If you do that your tax return will include Social Security and Medicare taxes on the unreported tips. But you already paid those taxes. You don't want to pay them again.

If you do not have a PC that has Windows 11 or a Mac that meets the system requirements for the desktop download then you cannot use the download. If you already purchased software you cannot use, seek a refund and use online TurboTax instead.
