Thanks to both of you for the answers!  I can feel confident that my confusion is based on illogical tax forms.

Estimated tax payment vouchers are not always included as part of your return, but you can generate them yourself if you need to make estimated payments.  You will be asked to enter information about your expected income and withholdings for the year and TurboTax will do the calculations and print the vouchers.  There is also a similar procedure in each state tax return to generate state estimated payment vouchers.   Use the steps in the following TurboTax help article to get started:   How do I print estimated tax vouchers?

It depends on which TurboTax you’re using. The mobile app for your phone/ipad does not require Windows 11 (How do I use the mobile app?). TurboTax Online (web/app): Works on Windows 10 or 11 via a supported browser. No Windows 11 requirement. TurboTax Desktop (CD/Download) for Tax Year 2025: Requires Windows 11 (64-bit). It won’t install or run on Windows 10. If you’re on Windows 10 and need Desktop features, your options include upgrading to Windows 11 or switching to TurboTax Online for this year.   See: Minimum system requirements for TurboTax Desktop software; TurboTax Online System Requirements

When this happens, it could be due to a combination of your income attributable to the home office and your other business expenses wiping out any profit that could be reduced by the home office expense.     Go back through the early questions of the home office section and double check your answers.  Remember that if you perform all of your work in the home office, then you would put 100% of your time was spent there for the period of time you had a home office.     Or, if you are using either TurboTax desktop Premier or Deluxe, you will not see the question asking for the percentage of time spent working in your home office.  You will need to enter this information using Forms by following the steps below.    Click Forms in the upper right corner. Look for Form 8829 on the left side of the screen under Schedule C and highlight this form.   Scroll down the page to the section titled Line 8 Calculation Smart Worksheet.  It will have a box around it. Type 100 in the box on line B.  If you did not use your home office 100% of the time for your business, but you also performed work in other locations, then enter the appropriate percentage of time for your situation. This will then calculate the home office deduction. @DanLoschen

Q. When you say "The 1098-T goes on both forms" you don't mean the SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT goes on both forms, correct?  A. Correct.  The 1098-T is entered on both returns, with the adjustments needed to get TT to do what you want it to.

The entire amount in Box 1 of Form 1099-NEC generally goes on your Schedule C worksheet as gross receipts or sales if it represents income from your self-employment or business services. To enter the qualified tips deduction for your 1099-NEC income in TurboTax Online, follow these steps: 1. Go to the Wages & Income section. 2. Scroll to the Self-Employment area and select Start or Update next to your business income. 3. After entering your 1099-NEC income on Schedule C, TurboTax will ask if you have any tips to report. 4. Indicate you have tips and enter the amount of qualified tips included in your 1099-NEC income. 5. TurboTax will automatically calculate any qualified tip deduction you may qualify for. This process helps ensure your qualified tips are reported and deducted correctly within your self-employment income.

That's correct.  It is asking you to allocate your other business expenses to each home office.  Therefore, anything that you are claiming with regard to the home office, like rent and utilities, is not included in this calculation.     Things such as supplies, postage, business insurance, business bank fees, and other expenses related only to the business would be included for this allocation.     @zombitroid

Payments from a disability pension received before the normal retirement age of the plan are required to be reported on line 1h instead of on line 5b because they are considered to be a wage replacement.   Reporting this income on line 1 has always been the requirement.  Beginning with the 2022 tax return, the IRS split line 1 into various sub-categories of wages, with line 1h being the one that is to be used in your case.   If your 2024 Form 1040 showed this income on line 5b, your 2024 tax return was prepared incorrectly.  That doesn't matter unless the amount of wages reported affects something else on your tax return.

Thank you again. I am sorry I am repeating questions. When you say "The 1098-T goes on both forms" you don't mean the SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT goes on both forms, correct? From the other post: "Enter the 1099-Q on your return, exactly as received.  Later, in the 1098-T section, enter the 1098-T with $10,783 in box 1 and box 5 blank (or $0)." Again, thank you.

If your 1095-A form covers both you and your spouse but TurboTax Online only asks if it is for you or your spouse separately, select Yes for the person who is the primary insured listed on the form. TurboTax calculates the Premium Tax Credit based on the combined information. The option to select "Both of Us" was available in prior versions but is no longer shown; the system now handles household coverage through the single form entry.   To enter your 1095-A form in TurboTax Online, follow these steps: 1. Go to the Federal section in TurboTax. 2. Select Deductions & Credits. 3. Scroll down and find the Medical section. 4. Next to Health Insurance Marketplace (Form 1095-A), click Start or Revisit. 5. Answer Yes when asked if you received a 1095-A. 6. Enter the details exactly as they appear on your form, including information covering both you and your spouse. TurboTax will only ask for information that affects your return and will handle the Premium Tax Credit calculation for your household.

If your 2022 tax return was completed in TurboTax but never filed, it remains saved in your TurboTax Online account under Your Tax Returns & Documents. You can open, review, and file that return anytime directly from there. Returns not filed by the deadline can still be filed. TurboTax lets you to e-file or print and mail your completed return. Note that if you missed the filing deadline, it's very likely you may owe late-filing penalties or interest, so filing promptly is important.   If you don't see your 2022 return there, it could be in a different account if you have more than one. Make sure you're signed into the correct Intuit account.

The 1098-T can go on both returns, with adjustments (as I described at your other post), when the parent needs to claim the AOTC and the student needs to report taxable income.  Your are the one "filing" the 1098-T.  He is only using it as a tool to enter the scholarship income, in TurboTax. The 1098-T he enters is not sent to the IRS. The 1098-T you enter is not sent to the IRS; TT just uses it to check the  box on form 8863 that says you got one.    Here's a post on the five main points on the  1098-T: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/college-education/discussion/re-what-do-i-do-with-form-1098t/01/3760212#M63114 Note: The 1098-T is only an informational document.  The discussion about making scholarship taxable by shifting  tuition to the AOTC also works for shifting tuition to the 529 (or both in your case).

TurboTax Deluxe includes one free State Download. Since New Hampshire does not require a state return, the software adds it by default, which might cause confusion. To resolve your issue: 1. Do not file or finalize the New Hampshire state return if not required. 2. To get your free state download for your actual filing states, make sure you select or add those states' returns properly under Your State Returns. 3. Removing the default New Hampshire return is tricky, but the free state download applies to the first state you file a return in. 4. If you're unable to get the free download for your other states, try restarting TurboTax and carefully selecting the correct states before entering state income. New Hampshire appears by default but does not count against your free state download.

As noted above, your Roth conversion will be a 2026 transaction reportable on your 2026 tax return, not on your 2025 tax return.  Line 14 of your 2025 Form 8606 will carry forward to line 2 of your 2026 Form 8606.   Regarding the in-kind recharacterization, until you receive the 2026 Form 1099-R it's going to be difficult to know the exact value transferred to accomplish the amount of recharacterization that you requested.  However, for the purpose of preparing your 2025 tax return, it doesn't really matter.  All that really matters for entry into 2025 TurboTax is the amount of contribution that you requested to be recharacterized (the entire contribution, I imagine).  Normally your explanation statement regarding the recharacterization would mention both the amount recharacterized and the amount transferred, but it should be sufficient to simply say that Fidelity calculated and transferred the gain/loss-adjusted amount that needed to be transferred to accomplish the recharacterization.  (I doubt that the IRS will ever read this explanation statement.)   When the code-R 2026 Form 1099-R reporting the recharacterization arrives, you can ignore it.  The explanation statement included with your 2025 tax return takes its place.  If you do enter this Form 1099-R into 2026 TurboTax, 2026 TurboTax will remind you that the recharacterization needed to be reflected on your 2025 tax return (as a traditional IRA contribution).  If you enter this Form 1099-R into 2025 TurboTax, 2025 TurboTax will ignore it.
