We recommend checking the HSA entry screens to make sure the excess contribution wasn't due to an entry error. Here's how:
Open or continue your return and Navigate to the HSA section:
TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to HSA.
TurboTax Desktop: Search for hsa and select the Jump to link.
Answer the questions until you get to the Let's enter your HSA contributions screen.
Make sure you didn't accidentally re-enter the amount already listed (from box 12 of your W-2) as this will incorrectly double your total contribution amount.
Continue through the HSA screens, making sure you answered all questions correctly.
If you overfunded your HSA last year but withdrew the excess by the due date of your 2024 return, answer No to Did you overfund your HSA in 2024?
Why am I showing an excess HSA contribution?

You may be able to get some money back for a solar system installation; there's the Federal Tax Credit (which you claim when you file) and any Instant Rebates (which vary by state). If you installed your solar system in 2025, you are eligible for the Residential Clean Energy Credit (IRS Form 5695). You may be able to claim 30% of the total cost (including equipment and labor)... for systems "placed in service" (installed and running) during 2025. This is a non-refundable tax credit (i.e., it reduces the taxes you owe dollar-for-dollar). If the credit is bigger than your tax liability, the leftover amount rolls over to next year. Open or continue your return. Under Federal tab, Click on Deductions & Credits -> Your Home -> Residential Energy Efficient Property. Proceed through the interview screens where the program will calculate your credit and generate IRS Form 5695. Actual cash rebates usually come from your state government or your local utility company. Check out the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency at DSIREusa.org. You can look up every solar rebate, grant, and tax exemption available in your specific zip code here. Under the Inflation Reduction Act, many states implemented "Point of Sale" rebates (e.g., High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act (HEEHRA)). Depending on your income level, you might get thousands off upfront for things like battery storage or electrical panel upgrades required for solar. If you are planning an installation in 2026, recent legislation (the One Big Beautiful Bill Act) has moved to sunset several residential credits. If your system was installed after December 31, 2025, you must verify if your specific equipment still qualifies or if the credit has dropped to 0% for the 2026 tax year. And... if you already started the project in 2025 but it finished in 2026, you'll need to look at the "placed in service" rules on your Form 5695 instructions (Safe Harbor),

Try deleting From 5695. You can go back through the interview if you need to take the credit.

When switching from standard mileage to actual expenses in TurboTax, you must use straight-line depreciation over the remaining useful life of your vehicle. TurboTax defaults to MACRS (accelerated) depreciation, but you can choose the straight-line method to spread your asset's cost evenly over its useful life. This provides the same deduction year after year.
However, once you elect the straight-line method for an asset, you cannot switch to MACRS for that same asset later.
Go to the Business Income and Expenses section and select Vehicle Expenses.
Use edit the vehicle you used previously for standard mileage
When asked how you want to deduct expenses, select Actual Expenses.
TurboTax will ask for your depreciation details. When editing the vehicle look for the depreciation method selection
Choose Straight Line
You must use the adjusted basis of the vehicle at the time of the switch

I agree with your comments. However, for this case since the parent did the distribution, the 1099-Q was issued to the parent as recipient and not the child. The other thing to note that for this scenario AOC was not being applied for various reasons because the student didn't qualify for AOC. The student was less than part-time in both semesters for the year. So, AOC was not an option. Nor, any scholarships. This particular scenario was very simple. The parent paid for the student's 2025 college tuition expenses all of which were reported on the student's 1098-t. The parent entered both the student 1098-t, which TT correctly includes as the AQEE on the student information sheet. Then the parent entered the 1099-Q, which was issued in the parent's name since they took the distribution from their 529 account. There were no other AOC, LLC, or scholarships to affect the calculations. Parent just withdrawing money from their 529 account to pay the child's tuition. This is a bug with Turbo-Tax and should be fixed. Yes, one work around is if there were sufficient AQEE to cover the entire 529 distribution, then no 1099-Q needs to be submitted. Just delete the 1099-Q. However, for those make a distribution slightly in excess of the AQEE, then they have to include the 1099-Q on their return, and TT is not calculating correctly.

To edit or fix local city taxes in TurboTax, you must adjust the source document (like a W-2 or 1099) or visit the State section of your return. Most local taxes are not entered independently but flow from the information provided in the federal interview. Start by checking your W2 or 1099 entries.
Next, in TurboTax, select the state return. Proceed through the state interview until you see a screen for Local City Taxes or Cities You Lived/Worked In. Select the specific city to edit its details or add a new locality.
