$2442 of UBIA of qualified property carried through from 2023 years return. The corporation had no income in 2024, (I started using a different corp) and when I entered this information on my personal return I got an error message. What do I do? Do I have to put in a correct K1 and do I lose a deduction?

I received a K-1 for my LLC. The K-1 I received, has a STMT for Box 20, Code AJ. The statement has two values, "Aggregate Business activity gross income or gain" and "aggregate business activity deduction". I have to enter something in my 1065 form for Box 20 - I can select code AJ, but what value do I enter? Thanks, Lisa

You may need to click on Add a State to get back into your return to make changes. You do not really have to add a state return; that "trick" will get you back into the software to make changes.

You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.

If you used online TurboTax, then use the account recovery tool to find the return.
You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Start a 2024 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

Very sorry for your loss. If you need to file past year returns you will need to use desktop download software on a full PC or Mac. Online TurboTax can only be used for a 2024 tax return. Only a 2024 return can be e-filed. Past year returns must be filed by mail.
For the year that your spouse passed, you can file a joint tax return. You said two years ago----do you mean he passed in 2023?
That way, you will get the married filing jointly 2023 standard deduction of $27,00 (+ $1500 for each spouse 65 or older) which will lower the amount of income you are taxed on.
In My Info, you will need to indicate that your spouse died. When his name is in My Info, there is a screen early in the interview that asks "Do any of these apply to [name] ?’” where you will do that, and then a drop down will appear where you can enter the date he passed.
If you have qualifying dependent children you will be able to file as a qualifying surviving spouse (QSS) for the next two years after this tax return. Post back if you need further help.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2024 only. Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Go to Federal>Wages & Income to enter a W-2.
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

@user17558130826 to clarify the comment on desktop revenues less than 1% and in decline was my own not in that quarterly earnings press release where they don't break down the revenue; but it's in the 10K from May - YTD Q3 FY2025 was $213mil down 5% from $224mil the year prior is that continues it will be about 202mil vs. projected 2026 revs upper estimate 21.186bn = 0.95% (this 21bn is full revenue for Inuit as a whole not just Turbotax). Revenue for online services is 4.5bn up 10% from 4.1bn. Just within the Turbotax world, 10% of desktop units account for 4.5% of revenue - because online is higher revenue (tho with higher cost overhead). Based on 4.3mil users average revenue per user in the desktop segment is $50. With the caveat it's possible 'electronic filing services' from desktop users falls under the service revenue and the 'product and other revenue' is just pure software revenue and maybe some there are some other ways to slice and dice these financials but that's my understanding - either way I think the trends are clear. That you took it in a prior year? I'm not sure. I would THINK it would have been in the interview and ask if it is Qualifying property, and if you elected out of it or not. Another possible spot where it MIGHT be where it asks for the amount of previous depreciation, it might also ask for how much Bonus depreciation you took previously. If you can't find it, maybe someone else will guide you for that (or you may need to set up a new question or call Support).

I paper-filed my 2019 federal return after printing it from TurboTax. Now I cannot find my own copy either on paper or on my computer. Is there a way to recover such an old return from TurboTax?

Turbo Tax and the IRS only keeps the last 7 years. If they still have it…….. How to Access prior year online returns https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/27010 If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2024 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2024. I had to go though about 12 screens. If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups. Or request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Or get a copy of your return using form 4506 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
