It depends. The IRS hasn't yet said how to handle this activity, but you must report this activity as income. You have two primary options for reporting this: as gambling winnings or as investments. Below are the steps for entering either selection into TurboTax: To enter gambling losses  from prediction markets in TurboTax when you reported gambling winnings without a W-2G, follow these steps: 1. Go to the Federal section, then choose Wages & Income. 2. Scroll to Less Common Income and select Start or Update next to Prizes, Awards, and Gambling Winnings. 3. After entering your gambling winnings, TurboTax will ask if you had any gambling losses. 4. Enter your total gambling losses. Note that losses can only be deducted up to the amount of your reported winnings and only if you itemize deductions.   To enter investment earnings from prediction markets in TurboTax Online, treat them like investment income. Here’s how: 1. Navigate to the Wages & Income section. 2. Find Investment Income and select Start or Update. 3. Choose to add investment income either by importing your form or manually entering the details. 4. If you don't have a specific tax form like a 1099-B, enter the amount as other income related to investments.

When you have income from foreign countries reported on 1099-DIV forms, you get to a screen to pick the country names from 4 dropdown lists. I need to enter "RIC", "Canada", "Taiwan", and "Various". When I pick each one to <Report Income>, then go back to the country list, the list collapses and only shows "RIC", "Canada", and "Various". I need to report Taiwan but cannot! In years past, I have had up to 6 countries to enter. I can only complete a few then TurboTax fails to keep up the country list. It is not possible to enter them all. Please fix this bug. Thank you.

Your yearly income statement may not be printed with a document control number, and you don't need it, if so. Follow these FAQ instructions to proceed forward, and continue with filing your tax return: A Control Number (box D) is used by many payroll departments to uniquely identify a W-2 in their system. If your W-2 doesn't have one, it's no big deal.   If you get errors when attempting to e-file with an empty box D, just enter any number in this format: 5 digits, space, 5 digits (for example, 12345 67890). The IRS doesn't care what's in box D.   If you get errors when attempting to import your W-2 with an empty box D and entering the example provided above doesn't work, you can select Change how I enter my form. Then you can add your W-2 by uploading it, snapping a photo of it, or typing it in manually.

When you got a job and your income changed, did you inform healthcare.gov?     If you had health insurance from the marketplace, when you applied for the insurance, you gave healthcare.gov an estimate of how much income you would receive in 2025.  They used that amount to calculate how much of the insurance premium would be covered by the tax credit and how much would be your amount to pay.   So...you had some monthly amounts to pay, and the rest of the cost of having that insurance was paid by the government program.   If you ended up making a higher income than you told them you would receive, they re-calculate how much should have been paid by the program and how much should have been paid by you.   And if your own share of the cost should have been more, they get it back on your income tax return.      If you actually had less income, you could even get some of the share you paid back on your tax return.           From Healthcare.gov: If you're enrolled in a Marketplace plan and your income or household changes, update your application as soon as possible. These changes — like higher or lower income, adding or losing household members, or getting offers of other health coverage — may affect the coverage or savings you’re eligible for.  After you finish applying or enrolling, you may be asked to submit documents to confirm your income. Discover which changes to report. Learn how to report changes.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

In TurboTax Online, amending your Ohio state return should generate an actual amendment, not just a new version. If you see a new version instead, here’s how to correctly create an amendment for your Ohio return: 1. Go to the Tax Home screen, scroll to Your tax returns & documents, and select the 2024 return. 2. Choose the Amend (change) return dropdown, then select Amend using TurboTax Online. 3. When asked why you're amending, select the option related to Ohio state changes. 4. Complete the screens to make your changes specifically to the Ohio state return. If you used this method but still see a new version instead of an amended return, double-check you selected to amend the state return only. Amending the state return separately should create an amended Ohio return rather than a new file.
