Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
It indicates the IRS has received your tax return and is currently validating the information. It means the return has passed initial acceptance but has not yet been approved for a refund.

To learn more about the letter you received, follow the advice of Bsch4477 and call the phone number on your letter.   However, the numbers you mentioned appear to be related to having multiple employers and reaching the maximum amount of Social Security tax withholdings for the year.  If your W-2s had different EIN numbers, then TurboTax would have likely included the excess amount of $3165 on your Form 1040 Schedule 3 line 11.     You probably do not need to amend your return, but the IRS can advise you if that is necessary when you call.   See the following TurboTax help article to learn more about excess Social Security tax:   Can I get a refund for excess Social Security tax withheld?   @jyeh74
Go to this IRS website for the status of an amended tax return - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return   The IRS will take up to 12 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

If you have already filed and you need to amend your return to correct your W-2, be sure that your original return has been accepted by the IRS.  It is also best to wait until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund if you expected one.  Then, use the information in the TurboTax help article below to amend your return to make the corrections to your W-2.  Be sure to also amend your state return if the correction changes your income.     How do I amend my federal tax return for this year?

I did some work for a college located in New York state (not city) while taking courses there, and received a 1099-MISC. The amount was right below the 2025 standard deduction threshold of $3,100 for Single (and can be claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer's federal return). However, I do have income from a different state that took my total gross income above the threshold. I am an undergraduate student and not a resident of NY. Also, no taxes were withheld on the 1099-MISC.  My understanding is that I only need to file a New York State tax return if I have "New York source income". However, I am confused about how the threshold for filing is determined ($3,100 in my case). Is it based on my total gross income, or "New York source income"? What's the definition of "New York adjusted gross income Federal amount column (Form IT-203, line 31)"?

Amen!  This product has been in market for too many years to not have functional means to attach required filing supporting documentation to allow electronic filing!

And here's a tip:        Once you find the *.tax2024 data file, before amending it you should make a backup copy of it, and name it something that marks it as the original.   For example, something like 2024taxreturn_original.tax2024, or whatever you prefer.   Then, if you mess something up when you prepare your amended return, you'll have the original unaltered tax data file to go back to.  You may wish to also make a backup PDF of the original return as well, with a distinguishing name such as 2024taxreturn_original.PDF, or whatever you prefer.  The PDF makes for easier viewing over the years, since it doesn't require the software.  And the PDF can come in handy down the road if you lose access to the software, which could happen after 3-4 years when the license no longer works.   TurboTax only supports the current year and the last 3 product years.   NOTE:  Remember all PDF tax documents and tax data files are very sensitive files, since they contain your personal ID info, financial data, and possibly bank account numbers, etc.  Be sure to store them safely and securely to guard against computer theft, hacking, etc.

No one in a user community forum can predict that.  The IRS says most people who efile and choose direct deposit will get their Federal refunds within 21 days, but a significant number do not and require more processing.   We don't know how long it's been since you filed, but here are something you should check:   If you efiled, and if your efile return was accepted (you can check at the Tax Home), what is shown at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tracker tool?   is there any message there? https://www.irs.gov/refunds If you postal mailed your return, it can take 4 weeks or longer just to show up in that tool.   Did you use any add-on options that involve a third-party bank, such as the "pay fees out of refund" option, the "up to 5 days early" offer, or Refund Advance?   If so, that would be an extra factor in the process.
