In Sep 2023 I converted a long term rental to personal use. I removed the Sch E and associated assets from TT in 2024, and finally sold it in 2025 after remodeling. How (and where!) do I re-enter each associated asset; and is my 2023 Form 4562 all I will require?   How and where do I enter the following examples (listed on my 2023 form 4562): -- House [01/2014]  [Cost (net):100000] [Method:SL/MM] [PriorDepr:40000] [CurrentDepr:2500] Porch [01/2015] [Cost:10000] [Method:150DB/HY] [PriorDepr:7000] [CurrentDepr:1000] Appliance [01/2020] [Cost:1500] [Method:200DB/HY] [PriorDepr:1000] [CurrDepr:200] Roof [01/2019] [Cost:7000] [Method:SL/MM] [PriorDepr:400] [CurrentDepr:1920] -- Also, is it important that the names of these Assets is identical to the names in the 2023 tax filing, so that the IRS can match them together?   Do I add in the remodel cost ($25000) in the same place?   Thank you!
Thanks for getting back! She was an NYC resident from january-August. Then Jersey resident for rest of year!

You can get a transcript of your return from the IRS to get your AGI. You can view your online transcript or you can request a transcript to be mailed it takes 5–10 days to receive.  Select a tax return transcript when asked what type of transcript you want.   Where can I find last year's AGI if I didn't file with TurboTax?

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
So when I choose Capital gains or losses and follow the prompt, I would be answering "No" to all of their questions and won't be able to enter Forex gain/loss since none of those questions apply.

A yellow box when entering your Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) in TurboTax usually indicates that some information might be missing or inconsistent. To correct this: 1. Review your 1099-R entry: Ensure the distribution code in Box 7 is correctly selected, often code "Q" for QCD. 2. Confirm the QCD amount: When prompted, enter the exact amount donated directly to the charity. 3. Check for indirect distributions: Only direct distributions from the IRA to the charity qualify as QCDs. Distributions made to you first do not qualify. After verifying these, the yellow warning should clear. If it persists, double-check the amounts and the charity's eligibility.

Yes.  I downloaded a complex 1099 from a financial institution.  Turbotax populated the information in the wrong boxes.  For example, ordinary dividends did not populate, but the amount for ordinary dividends populated in the box for qualified dividends.  I have a 30 page 1099.  If Turbotax requires me to do this manually, I guess after many years - we're done!

The Subject line should be read as "How to report returned bonus in Turbo Tax?"
Can you clarify your question?  What is the source of the retirement distribution?  What is the code in Box 7 or your 1099-R?  What was your age on 12-31-25?

I do not know the order of the states that you were a part-year resident.  I do not know the dates of residency in the three states.  I do not know how income was earned in the states.    Under Your Info or My Info, I declared myself a resident of Utah but did not report that I lived in other states.   At the screen Did you make money in any other states, I reported that I made money in Michigan and California.   I presumed that there was one W-2 and the state income and withholding was reported on lines 15-17 of the W-2 for the three states.   In each state, I declared myself a part-year resident.  In each state, including Utah, I was allowed to report Dates of Residency.

Hi,    Last year, I received a signing bonus at the start of my employment around June 2025. I was asked to pay a portion of this signing bonus back earlier this year, in Feb 2026, after the 2025 W2 was generated by the company. I have NOT received a revised  W-2C form from the company.    Question: How do I report [in Turbo Tax] the portion of the signing bonus I had to pay back?    Thank You.

To fix this error on Form AR3 in the Arkansas return. You will need to make sure that all the entries have a type and amount. Fix any incomplete or incorrect information and remove any $0 entries if applicable. Please review the reason for the reject. If necessary, make the appropriate change and re-submit this return electronically.    However, if the reject continues, you may want to file this return via U.S. Mail. To file your state return, print it and mail to the appropriate taxing authority.   @philipjdahlin

You don't need to change it.  The amount you enter for your RMD is only used to calculate a penalty if you don't take some or all of your RMD.  If you took a distribution of 100% of the inherited IRA then you definitely met the RMD for that IRA.
