Is there a form to show the 'expenses necessary to maintain the property' vs rents received? or just keep my own spreadsheet in case I am asked for it?   Also, can I use the taxes and interest as that offset if I don't itemize? I know better than to use it in both places. The Standard Deduction is so big nowadays it would be more beneficial to use them to offset the rent.

I read the answers pertaining to getting prior years tax return data onto a new computer, but I do not have "tax files" for recent years, only from 2008 to 2014.  Could it be called something else or be a different type of file?  I've done a search of the entire computer in case it went in a folder other than Turbo Tax, but no luck.  Thanks.

Hi,   I rented out some rooms in my primary residence for a number of years through the end of 2024 but never "took" any depreciation on the sch E as i incorrectly assumed that depreciation was only applicable if the whole property was treated as a rental.    In 2025 I sold  my home and  i  now understand  the need to factor in  this accumulated amount. I understand the the percentage of the space rented is used to determine the amount of business use and then flow to adjusting the basis  (value of iimprovements only as of date put in service ) in calculating taxable capital gain and and recapture.    I waded into the rental screen and after choosing the "the proerty was sold "  it then asked me if the rental space was rented out partially or not at all for 2025.  The rented rooms were not rented out at all because i was getting the property reading to be put on the market so no income to declare.  I chose that option.  The program then  would not procede any further with the process.  If i do not say it was not rented at all  then it allows me to procede but i am concerned that it might be affecting the calculations.  Am i doing something wrong or out of sequence ?   Also, it asked for number of days of rental use versus personal use.  Since i had no rental activity at all, can this be ignored or do i have to input something?   Lastly, is there a correct order of first inputing the sale of residence  and the sale of the rental in the rent section or does it not matter and turbo tax will sort it all for me.  This is all new to me and trying to get it right.

If you’re not receiving TurboTax’s verification code emails, try these fixes, in order:   1) Check email issues, search your inbox for “Intuit” and “security code.” Also, check Spam. Add do_not_reply@intuit.com and notifications@intuit.com to contacts or your allowed list. If you use a custom domain, allow these IPs/domains with your provider: intuit.com, notification.intuit.com, elasticemail.com.   2) On the TurboTax sign-in screen, use “I forgot my User ID/Password” to see which email(s) are linked and make sure it is the right email. If you have multiple Intuit accounts, try the alternate email or mobile number on file.   3) Choose “Text me a code” or “Call me with a code” if your phone is listed. If offered, use an authenticator app code (from when you set up 2-step verification). If prompted, use backup codes you may have saved when enabling 2-step verification.   4) Click “Didn’t get a code? Resend” and wait 2–3 minutes between attempts. Don’t request multiple codes rapidly; only the latest code works. Keep the sign-in window open; switching devices/browsers can invalidate codes.   5) Use an incognito/private window, or a different browser. Disable ad/script blockers for intuit.com; clear cache/cookies. Ensure your system time/timezone is correct; out-of-sync clocks can fail verification.   6) Go to accounts.intuit.com -> Sign in & security -> 2-step verification and verify or update your contact options once you can get in. If still locked out of codes, use the account recovery flow at accounts.intuit.com -> “I forgot my user ID or password” -> “Confirm my account a different way,” and follow the prompts.   If unsuccessful, contact TurboTax Support to manually verify your identity and update your login email.

Can someone please tell me on the Massachusetts Individual Return form1, under part 3 (wages, salary, tips , then under Pension types, no boxes are populated automatically from the drop downs? Should I populate them manually? Also, of the two pensions I inputted, for the pension amount for a distribution from a work 401 rolled over to an Traditional IRA, the amount is populated as ZERO. I know it is not taxed, but shouldn't there have been a dollar amount of the distribution in the field? It was a type G distribution on my 1099R.  Thanks for help.

I am using the Mac version. As the original poster stated, "Add supporting details" is greyed out. command-I does not work, and double clicking does not work. As far as I can tell you no longer support this, which sucks because you also no longer accept multiple donations to the same charity. This is a big inconvenience compared to the last decade of TT
