Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals. Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.

My OR return was accepted Sunday after much frustration, trial, and error. Unfortunately, TT bundles everything under OR, so I can't see the individual local returns broken out and I only got a confirmation from OR and not the city. Since I included everything, I assume this was all the local taxes as well, but there isn't any way to tell because information is obfuscated and we don't have any way to do detailed tracking. I've never had so much trouble with TT in the past and the lack of information provided about the issue(s) made it worse. I understand if the receiving service is down or having issue, but we need to know that with a bit more detail than "oops! something went wrong, try again later". I'm not asking for a stack trace (which would be bad), just a bit more precision and accuracy so I at least know where the problem is and can respond or troubleshoot better. (Is it my browser, browser extension like ad block, a TT software defect, a service like AWS down, etc. )

If you only paid in a minimal amount of state tax through withholding on your W-2 form, then you may be deducting state sales tax in lieu of state income tax. You are allowed to pick the one that gives you the higher deduction. You will see a check mark in box 5(a) on your schedule A indicating this. You will have to pay for your program first to see that though.
You can go through the sales tax entry screen in TurboTax as that may indicate if you are deducting sales tax in lieu of income taxes. You will find it in the Deductions and Credits section, and then Estimates and Other Taxes Paid, then Sales Tax.

It's not an "audit waiting to happen". Look at your actual form 1099Q itself - it lterally tells you right on it that if the distribution isn't taxable, you don't report anything on your return. If TurboTax allows you to enter room and board (and I agree it should) it will determine for you that it's not taxable and that's ALL it doesn' Your 1099Q is completely ignored when your return is filed and no mention of it ever even goes to the IRS

I was able to figure this one out. I am stuck in a middle-area. Mid-year, my employer changed payroll companies. This means I received 2 separate W-2s. The second payroll company kept track of cumulative annual pay and deducted the .9% Additional Medicare Tax as required. However, because each of my separate W-2s does not exceed $200,000 individually nor when combined with my wife's salary do we exceed the $250,000 threshold then form 8959 is not automatically required. Because it is not automatically required, the software will not fill it out for me. If it did, the instructions for form 8959 require one to put combine all earnings from all W-2s togehter, which then when the form is completed shows that I am due a credit to enter into line 25c of my 1040. So because I don't meet the requirements for needing to fill out form 8959, I don't get to fill it out and therefore I apprarently must forfeit $174 in Additional Medicare Tax I paid.

Last time had to file in paper, and it's the third time it happens. Turbo tax have a place for IP pins for defendants but the IRS doesn't allow it for minors. IRS sent a letter once stating someone was claiming one of my dependants but it's not true, they fixed it. Will this keep happening?

Instead of identifying PNC as your institution, try using National Financial. National Financial is "processing" PNC's accounts. This worked for other users.

The credit percentage is applied and compared to the $360. From the OR-17: Example: Jesse and Stacey make a $4,000 contribution to an ABLE account they opened for their daughter, who has a disability. Their AGI is $150,000. Their percentage from Table 14 is 10 percent. They may claim the lesser of 10 percent of their contribution ($4,000 x 0.10 = $400) or $360. Their credit is $360.
I created a return, 50% credit level income, $5k contribution and received the full $360 credit correctly. $5,000 contribution x 50% is $2500. The lesser of $2500 or $360 is $360 for the credit.
Page 119 of the OR -17 has more information.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.
