Did you see the post from Vanessa A, an employee tax expert on my feed? She said that at this point you have to file a paper copy and include the 1099R.
how do you get to the place to enter early tax payments

The part I struggle with is I don't see any guidance in the software that states this 3rd category is for renting out part of your primary residence. I only see, "This includes rentals you don’t live in and business properties."   To test my theory I added a random 1098, ticked the box for Other (3rd category) and TurboTax desktop went and added the property tax to my Schedule A on line 5b State and local real estate taxes (see instructions). This property is not mentioned anywhere else in my return. I call that a bug, but I don't see anywhere IN the software to report such a bug. "SMART" check did not flag any issues.   At this point, my recommendation is to not use this 3rd category until TurboTax provides better guidance on what it is supposed to used for. Disappointing they don't have a better mechanism to address perceived issues.
Thank you for the clarification. That makes total sense. Does that mean the 1099-SA reports only the earnings amount and not the excess contribution amount?
How can I enter income from participating in a medical study for which no 1099 will be issued?

Hi,  I am preparing 2025 tax using turbotax Premium.  I ran into the same question.  Shcedule D line #7 is for short term capital gain. Schedule D line #15 is for long term capital gain.  Schedule D line #16 is for the sum of line #7 short term capital gain and line #15 long term capital gain.  Then it moves the sum on line #16 to form 1040 line 7a. I don't see where it calculates different rate for short term and long term gain. Please tell which form I can find turboTax using different tax rate for short term and long term capital gain. Thanks, Judy

@ clcjl wrote: Just to clarify, the error message popped up just when I entered the key, no download link showed yet.  Oh, that's one difference.  Something must have changed in the download procurement method from tax year 2020 to tax year 2021.   When I did the test download of 2020, it didn't ask for the license key at that point for me to get the installation file; it simply had a download link.  Based on your image, apparently in 2021 they must have asked for the license key just to get the 2021 download.  So I don't know if you will be able to get it that way or not.  I don't know if it's a technical issue or whether they are not providing it by that method anymore.   In any case, I still had 2021 installed, but it was not activated.  I launched it, and initially it asked for a license key.  So I entered the 2021 license key, and it did still activate and became usable.     Have you rebooted your modem, router, computer lately?  That's always something to try.  And, of course, be sure you are entering the correct year's license code.  You've probably already checked that.   You can talk to TurboTax Support, if you wish, and see if they would push the 2021 download file to you.  I don't know what you would encounter, but they might just say they don't support 2021 anymore. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

If you did not sell it, delete that sale entry - it should be entered in another section.   Can you clarify what kind of tax form you received?      According to the IRS, airdrops (along with promos and staking rewards) only become taxable once the taxpayer acquires the ability to transfer, sell, exchange, or otherwise dispose of the cryptocurrency.   Airdropped currency that isn't yet usable or accessible isn't taxable until the taxpayer can exercise control over it.   If you can access your crypto airdrop, use the instructions in the link below to enter it in TurboTax.       How do I report crypto promo assets?   These instructions will say to enter in Other Reportable Income.   However, if you have a 1099-Misc, delete the entry you already made and enter you 1099-Misc, enter it and answer the follow up questions as they are below:    Where do I enter a 1099-MISC?   After you enter the reason for the 1099-Misc, mark None of the above on the next screen (uncommon situations). Answer Did the refund involve work that's like your main job?  NO Answer How often did you get income for refund?  You got it in 2025 only Answer Did the refund involve an intent to earn money?  NO   This will report the box 3 amount as Other Income on Line 8 of Form 1040 without generating a schedule C.

If your Computershare 1099-B lacks a control number in TurboTax, you can leave the field blank and proceed, or manually enter the data if the prompt forces a value. The control number is not required by the IRS and is only used for automated import, so opting to manually enter your 1099-B summary data is the best workaround.   @g1en1es1ie
Wrong again. The plan already withholds PA tax.

You cannot make a partial foreign earned income exclusion.  You must use the full amount of foreign income or none.

The correct answer was to delete the 1099s. I would recommend deleting them entirely from the documents section as well before reimporting. My taxes are done and I see 5 copies of some 1099s some with 3 copies and some with 1 copy. The other problem in the review section is if you have multiple accounts the names of the 1099s are all the same in the review section. The documents section shows 4 digits of the account for differentiation if you have multiple accounts. It would be helpful if the review section had the same identifier.
