Yes, that works. However, altering the refund directly on the 1040 does not seem to work.

Can you clarify your situation?
Did you file the tax return?
What document did you read?
Did your information disappear?
Could you go back and edit anything?

No, do not create two separate W-2s (this might cause a mismatch... total income reported to the IRS won't match what the DFAS (Defense Finance and Accounting Service) sent them.
How to enter your Military W-2 (Federal):
Enter your W-2 exactly as it appears under the Federal section of your tax return.
Indicate that( you were "Active Duty Military" if prompted. (Title 32 and Title 10 are generally taxed the same way). Iowa exempts Title 10 active duty pay, but taxes Title 32 (drills and annual training).
Within your State return:
Click through the Iowa interview, until you see a screen that says "Adjustments to Income" or "Subtractions." There should be a specific line for "Active Duty Military Pay" or "Military Exemptions."
You will need to look at your LES (Leave and Earnings Statement) to calculate the total taxable pay (Base Pay + any taxable allowances) earned during your Title 10 activation months.
Enter that specific dollar amount into the "Active Duty Military Pay" subtraction box. (this Title 10 portion of your total income is active duty for Federal, but exempt from state tax.)
You can verify your math ($868.43 expected refund) via the program... it will look at your total Iowa tax liability (now reduced by your Title 10 subtraction) and compare it to that $1728.84.
Be sure to keep your Title 10 orders and your Dec/Jan LES files for your records (in case the Iowa Department of Revenue asks for verification).
Thank you for your service!

I don't understand this comment by @Mike9241 "for the personal portion, if any, gain is taxable, while any loss is not deductible. " Is this saying that a loss on schedule C will not reduce tax on the personal portion of the return? A loss on schedule C will only transfer as a Net 0 Gain on the 1040?

Try this for the Canada Pension error: Use the trashcan icon in the Canadian Pension section next to where this appears, but you don't click Continue, because it creates a new Canada RRP Worksheet. So click the trashcan and go right back to Federal Review.
Also, for the import, this seems to be something most are missing when trying to import:
Watch for a message next time: in the left corner top screen a pop up asked if it could access more of the files on my computer,

Yes, here is the link for the source.
According to the IRS:
Rollovers Any amount distributed from a QTP isn’t taxable if it’s rolled over to:
Another QTP for the benefit of the same beneficiary or for the benefit of a member of the beneficiary’s family (including the beneficiary’s spouse), An ABLE account for the benefit of the same beneficiary or for the benefit of a member of the beneficiary’s family (including the beneficiary’s spouse). But this doesn’t apply to the extent the amount distributed when added to other amounts contributed to the ABLE account exceeds the annual contribution limit. For more information about ABLE accounts, see Pub. 907, Tax Highlights for Persons With Disabilities, or A Roth IRA for the benefit of the same beneficiary, if the distribution is a direct trustee-to-trustee transfer from a QTP account that has been open for more than 15 years and the amount distributed does not exceed total contributions (and attributable earnings) made to the QTP more than 5 years before the distribution date. However, this doesn’t apply to the extent the amount distributed when added to other amounts contributed to Roth IRAs exceeds the annual contribution limit. For more information about contributions to Roth IRAs, see Pub. 590-A.
You should contact the qualified ABLE program before contributing any funds to the ABLE account to ensure that the contribution limit will not be exceeded.
An amount is rolled over if it’s paid to an ABLE account or another QTP within 60 days after the date of the distribution.
Don’t report qualifying rollovers (those that meet the above criteria) anywhere on Form 1040, 1040-SR, or 1040-NR. These aren’t taxable distributions.

The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on March 4. The date is subject to change, so check on 3-4 to see if it is ready. Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.

My refund on the IRS has the correct amount . The date by Irs for delivery is today the 25th, TurboTax site says pending as it said since the IRS accepted my return. My up to 5 days early obviously is not going to happen. How long does TurboTax take to process my funds after it's sent to whatever the "bedrock" bank middle man ???

If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)
TurboTax Online:
Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.
Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number.
Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send
Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.
Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return.
*If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')
We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.
